I feel giddy right now, much more so than an 18-year-old boy should be. But it is quite justified, I guess To everyone who got in - congrats, and may I meet you sometime in the future! To those who did not - I am sure that life has wonderful things in store for you elsewhere. The one thing that I do want to emphasize to those underclassmen who are reading these results threads is to show your personality in your application. Seriously. I made sure that my essays and my supplement essays and everything else in my application could not have been written or compiled by anyone else but me, and I firmly believe that this is one of the main reasons that I got in. Make the admissions people laugh, make them cry, whatever, just make sure that what they read in their office is the quintessence of your soul (to quote Dr. Seuss: “No one in the world / is youer than you”). I’m gonna stop my rambling now because it’s late, but again, congrats to all those accepted!

Strengths: Certainly not my test scores! That said though, although a 29 composite isn’t particularly notable, I do take some pride in my ACT Writing score of a 10 which is in the 99th percentile. I also take some pride in the rigor and performance of my transcript, although many other applicants also sport similar numbers. Other than that I am unsure of what attracted me in any regard.

General Comments: Now I have to pick between a track scholarship to UVa, running for Dartmouth, or just going to Northwestern.

Got my acceptance package! The letter even had a personal note from the Dean on it and he signed it twice. I’m in-state so I think that all of Virginia has it btw.

[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Legacy, In-state

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Extracurriculars, Volunteer work, SAT’s, Recs, Essays
[] Weaknesses: Not in top 10%, from Northern Virginia
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I am in the top 12%, but 92% of UVA students are in the top 10%. Northern Virginia is also highly competitive because of the large population.
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
Waitlisted: UNC-Chapel Hill, Accepted: Dickinson College, JMU (waiting to hear from Honors College), U of South Carolina(with in-state tuition), UNC Wilmington (recieved decision earlier than most because top applicant, invited to apply to the honors college)

[/ul]General Comments: UVA may say they are holistic, and because they have so many applicants they sometimes have to be to narrow down their decisions, but mostly the school cares about its stats and ranks itself with ivy league schools. I feel that my class rank is what hurt me the most, as well as the fact that I only took latin for 3 years because I struggle with foreign languages.
