I talked about allowing my ego to get the best of me when I mistook talk of a summer internship for an official offer and then cleared my summer schedule of other commitments, only to find that it had fallen through. <p>I was so surprised when I saw that I got in, but I think it ultimately came down to the cohesiveness of my application; my essay was about my experience on a political campaign, I highlighted my extracurriculars relating to politics/foreign affairs (and asked my recommenders to do the same), and stressed the same points in my interview. There’s a fine line between seeming passionate and redundant, but I wanted to make sure that the different aspects of my application were tied together by a common thread.</p>
