I called in and the lady said to submit the app; later if they need anything(registrar midterm or final reports) they will let u know. However I think those forms are all for HS kids

Does anyone know if it is okay to have transcripts and recommendation letters sent to USC before submitting the application?

@USC2014Hopeful - Thanks! I’ll do that. Also, was English the only requirement you didn’t fulfill?

@SCRuBSFan101 - Yes, that is the only requirement I have not completed.

And remember, technically, I have done it - but since USC doesn’t accept clep, and since I don’t they’ll be able to understand that I haven taken and am currently taking a class that requires that English/Writing requirement, I don’t think they’ll count that as completing the requirement.

If only they could count my American Lit. sequence as a part of the requirement…

@fdominguez

But I thought the final report went with our highschool transcripts?

@Coolkid094

I sent my high school transcripts and my cc ones regardless of my final report, I am only speaking for myself and broadcasting what the lady said.

I think you’re right anyways. Thanks for your input

Would sending the letter of recommendations after the deadline jeopardize my application?

I will ask my professors next Monday and hoping I can get a hold of them and make them submit their letters before the end of this month but I’m not sure

Guys do you think a class titled “College Algebra” (MAT 161 at my CC) would fulfill the “intermediate algebra” requirement? I completed up to pre calculus in HS and tested out of some lower level math courses at my CC using my SAT scores.

Also, if intro to sociology fulfills the diversity req, do you think a sociology of gender class would also fulfill it?

NCXfer,
If you took up to precalc in hs you should have taken Algebra II so that should meet the math requirement. Also, have you checked to see if your cc has any history with USC? I took a class right after hs at our state university and they did not have an articulation agreement with SC but they did have a history and that is how I figured out which class to take for the diversity requirement.
Fight On!

My CC is located in NC. I honestly don’t think anyone has ever transferred to USC lol.

I think sociology of gender would work though because the description says something along the lines of examining gender differences, differences between groups, etc.

@harry188

I think you’re in as long as you have prereqs met and solid essays.
I’m also applying for business. Are you transferring from a cc, state, or private?
Best of luck

Yes I called admissions and you can send things beforehand. They set up an acct for you and later merge it with the common app.

Question:

How many letters of recommendations do we need and what is the Registrar Report?

I am applying for Marshall, also what is a good alternative to Marshall?

What are the acceptance rates and GPA ???

@TonyStark93

I don’t think you need any recommendation letters and you don’t need to send out the registrar report unless they ask (it’s usually for the high school applicants).

The alternative to Marshall is economics I think but I’m not to sure what school it’s in. Go the the USC website and look at the transfer brochure.

It shows the averages of acceptance rate and GPA but if you wanted a quick answer, it’s 33% acceptances rate and 3.6 was the average last year for transfer students

@TStark

The average for SC went up. it’s a 3.7 with a 30% acceptancce rate. I think it will probably increase again this year as competition is steadily increasing. For Marshall It’s around a 3.85 or 3.86 for admission’s.

If you have a 3.5 and above you should be competitive. With a killer essay and good LOR’s you have a 80% chance. EC’s have almost no weight in admissions. The lower the GPA the harder it is. Having A’s in English and Math is crucial to admission for Marshall. It the most applied to school at SC, gaining admission with low stats will be really tough.

Good Luck Bro.

Does USC calculate the number of transferable units in their numbers?

For example, four 3-credit hour/unit courses at IU that is the same as four 4-credit hour/unit courses at USC, do they use the number of units they give the course or the number IU gives it?

So instead of having 12 units, it would be 16?

What exactly does ‘one term of foreign language’ mean? Does it mean one semester? My CC has a class titled “elementary spanish,” would that cover it?

just turned in my app, good luck everybody.

Also another question:

What is Dornsife Economics acceptance rate/GPA?

Also is it worth going to USC for that school?

Also, another question is on the application, who should I get the advisor’s information from? And is the application fee waiver somethign I have to mail in?

@TonyStark93

I am thinking it depends on what you want to to with your studies. What is it that you are trying to accomplish with ur degree?

For the advisor just put the name of either your transfer advisor or ur assigned advisor. If u dont remember their names they are usually listed on the staff of the schools webpage under staff, which also almost always have their phone # n email
