Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

@andy1l17 The red i just stands for document information, like a help button if you don’t know what the form is.
Everything under ‘Received Documents’ is what they have received and have processed in their system, and everything under Required Documents is what they don’t have yet. If you’ve already sent it in, then it just hasn’t been processed. Otherwise if you haven’t you’ll to send it there.

So I requested my transcript to be sent to the undergraduate offices by mail about two weeks before February 1st…yet the “Required Documents” page has an option to upload/fax my transcript? Is that supposed to happen? Also, aside from the things mentioned in my “Required Documents” page they have EVERYTHING right just checking).

Also, if we cannot make changes in the Common App Writing Supplements if we submitted it by the initial deadline isn’t that kind of bogus that others have until Feb 18? Or am I missing something?

At USConnect, I see that there is an “Gap in Educational History” document submitted, when I never submitted such a form…or even had a gap in my educational history. Any thoughts why this might be?

@scubasteven - In my opinion, the best choice you have is to contact them.

@scubasteven I had the same thing except mine represented the fact that I changed high schools…any chance something like that happened to you?

Happy Valentine’s Day to all! Hopefully the next week or so bring y’all letters from SOMEWHERE! Have a great day!

does usc look at spring semester grades before making final decisions?

@estara89 Only for people who get Spring Grade Requests

Hey guys, so I already submitted my application on Feb 1, and on the application, for Registrar and Academic Evaluator I just put a counselor down that helped me with some other stuff and not the USC application. I just got her contact info as well from the school’s website and put those down. Am I supposed to let her know that I did? Does it matter? Registrar and Academic Evaluator portion of the application really important? Thank you

@Magico I think they said it wasn’t too important, I wouldn’t worry about it

First, For Annenberg applicants was the letter of intent a separate document from the CommonApp or was it included on the supplement page. I think the ladder, but I am going a little insane.

Second, do all applicants applying as freshman get SGR’s?

@USC2USC Not all but most

@hepburn95 I gave them a call. The just told me the “Gaps in Educational History” was a section in the application process… Nothing more than that! Does this explain anything for you?

can we be informed early (before June 1st) even if we are a spring admit?

@scubasteven Still not sure… Maybe we answered “none”? If they are so vague about it, it’s probably nothing very important.

@hopefultrojan9 Spring admits typically find out later than fall admits, but I know someone who knew they were a spring admit in May.

Don’t worry about the date June 1st, most people think that’s is when we START hearing, but it’s not. We will start hearing in late April (typically Dornsife applicants hear earlier, Marshall hears later). June 1st (or 3rd?) is the absolute latest we will hear something from them (accept, reject, or sgr).

Has anyone heard from other schools yet?

I’m not sure if I’m considered a junior or a sophomore at usc. I mean I know juniors have 64 units but is that before Spring 2014 or BY Spring 2014? And are AP credits included?

@randombookie It’s by the time of your enrollment, and AP credits are included (as long as they fall under USC’s requirements/regulations)

quick last minute question! so for the common app main essay it can be tailored and not general correct? i don’t really see how you could write much in 250 words for the supplement. and is registrar report and recommendation required or not?

The main essay can be tailored. The following is from an email from USC on Jan 30, 2014 with helpful hints for those who had started the common app but not yet submitted.
a. Registrar
If you are not sure how to complete this section, enter the name of your school registrar without an e-mail address. We will not require the Registrar Report, either electronically or on paper, though other universities may require you to do this. However, if you know this form helps your school provide transcripts to USC, feel free to use it.

b. Academic Evaluator
Some academic departments at USC require academic recommendations, but in general we consider these optional. We will gladly consider any you wish to submit. Common App will require you to enter a name before submitting.

one of my “academic evaluators” happens to be a high school teacher (I’m applying to be a sophomore) hasn’t sent in their letter of rec because they think high school Teachers are not allowed to send in letters. Is this true? I’m pretty sure it’s okay I just want to double check

Does anyone know what to do about the CSS Non-Custodial Parent Profile if you don’t have contact with your NC Parent? I’m going to call today but I wanted to see if anyone here knew before I did.
