@Numbersz That’s actually a pretty chill reason

@lazevike I had a 3.72 GPA for all courses related to prepping me for chemE. Overall, I had a 3.73.

@rojogaleana12 You’re going to have to give me a lot more information than what you’ve given me. Give me the details via PM if you’re conscious about others knowing your private info.

@artsy25 From what I remember, there are no interviews for transfer students. Sucks, but you just gotta make it up with a killer application. I would suggest talking to students. Get some REAL answers and not the buttered up stuff college reps give you. Or PM me. I’m not afraid to give you a thorough answer.

@piano1900 It doesn’t matter when you turn in your application as long as it is timestamped by Feb 15th PST @ time whatever they said it was. There’s nothing to suggest a positive correlation between app turn in date and admission status. Give yourself time to ferment those ideas for a respectable app. You aren’t competing for scholarships anyways. Also you separately turn in your transcript and it SHOULD be after the fall semester grades come out.

@numbersz I totally understand what you mean. Honestly, like 75% of the people at my CC are trying to apply to this, lets be honest, incredibly mediocre school close by. It’s as if they have never heard of other schools.

I’m proud to tell people where I’m applying though, especially since it is across the country. It usually gets a fulfilling reaction.

Hopefully we all get in! 3½ months till the deadline @-)

@CorruptTheory I’ll only have 2 of the areas (according to my school’s articulation agreement with USC) finished before I apply and 5 of them finished before I transfer. That’s my biggest concern; I’ll barely have any prereqs done before applying. Is that chill or should I wait until next year to apply to USC?

@rojogaleana12 What’s your major? If it’s not engineering, then I can’t really say if you should apply. Not having the prereqs puts you at a significant disadvantage. How do other people in your major fare? Do they usually have X number of prereqs done? If you dont do above average compared to all the other applicants, I would say to wait another year to better present yourself since it doesnt seem likely. Unless your internships/other experiences are just THAT good.

I’m an international relations major, so the amount of prereqs for my field is pretty minimal. However, I will finish my 4th semester language prereq before I transfer. And in regards to my ECs, I’m not sure what “THAT good” would consist of at SC. Thanks for all the help @CorruptTheory

Would a B in one of the GEs affect my chances into Marshall?

@rojogaleana12 I don’t want to speak out my ass and tell you to go apply because I really don’t know your chances of being accepted. I’m sorry.

@bluepersimmon Why do you think a B in a GE will affect your chances of being accepted? Surely you have stronger points on your application that will easily highlight your strengths. It’s a B dude. Make it up somewhere else in the app.

Hi,

How important are English Composition I and II? I had a “B” in English Comp I and I think I’ll have either a “B” or even a “C” in English Comp II. I’m not sure if retaking Comp II for a higher grade would help me. Furthermore, I have As in every other class and all other GEs will be completed (total of 31 units completed as well) after this semester. (With the exception of GE I, which I’m doing in the Spring)

So I need some advice. I’m currently taking an American history course which I’m pretty sure I’ll end up getting a C / C+ in. So would it be better to just take the C or to withdraw and get a W and take an online course which fulfills the diversity requirement and get an A. I know usc isn’t a big fan of W’s so I’m at a loss.

@ulysscova I would say just finish it, make it up elsewhere. If I’m a admission officer I’m probably more likely to have someone that went through a tough class than a quitter, that’s how I think of it.

Ugh, so I was waitlisted and I didn’t get into my Chem class that I needed this quarter… I’ll only have 2/3 courses done by the end of the year and I’m guessing this is gong to kill my application (I’m a CS major).

Has anyone gotten in missing this requirement? IIRC I’ve seen 4.0 students who got rejected but because they didn’t have ANY science + lab + other missing reqs. This literally will be my only missing req + I’ll have all but one category finished.

I’m so depressed/stressed about this to the point where I couldn’t sleep,. sometimes literally running on 1-2 hrs of sleep at school. And now I find out that people dropped with a W in the class that I needed!! Why in the world is the last add date the same as the last drop date?!?!

I don’t want to take a third year at CC but this is looking like the case… I’m just so bummed, any advice guys?

@ulysscova Hey, I would definitely take the C/C+. There is still a lot of semester/quarter left and you might be able to bring it up to a B too, don’t EVER give up.

Also if this isn’t a major req a C+ won’t be the end of the world.

@popwiz Does USC count your second attempt at a class over the first if the first wasn’t an F? Because I was under the assumption that they don’t.

Hey everyone!

I am international student applying to Marshalls this Fall as a business admin major.
I’m so nervous about this whole application process since USC is my dream school!

I have a few questions that some of you guys might know or have heard about:

First, I’m wondering if USC really cares about the level of involvement in EC activities. I am in student government at my CCC as commissioner. I just got promoted to senator but I’m contemplating-- whether I should take it or not because I heard from a friend that the level it doesn’t really matter.

Second, I’m currently taking Calculus and am afraid I will get a B in this class. One B will not hurt me but I am worried that this will be a disadvantage since it is a major requirement. It will also cause a downward trend in my grades, I have a 4.0 so far.

What do you think?

Hey, all. I was hoping for some advice. I applied to USC for Fall 2014 as undeclared since I wasn’t sure if I had 60 transferable units. I had 64 units by the end of spring, but some were CSU and I was just so confused when I applied. Anyway, I received a spring grade request because my counselor wanted to see my math grade and I wound up with a B in stats and got rejected shortly after. My intended major is linguistics (I had put it as my second choice, but left my first choice as undeclared because I really was unsure about the whole 60 unit thing). Do you think I have a shot? My GPA right now is about 3.9ish, but it might go a bit up or down (I’m taking a science course and I’m not doing so hot). Do you recommend I take a higher math course or something else to improve my chances? Thanks for any help. And I can offer more info if needed.

Hello everyone! I am currently a freshman at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I want to transfer to USC next year into the Dornslife college. My father went to USC and my sister currently goes to USC. USC is my dream school and I would really appreciate any feedback I can get about transferring. Does anyone know what GPA I need to get to get into Dornslife and how my chances are considering my alumni and the college I am applying to? Thank you!

@uscdaughter2015 hey, I would say the average GPA is probably a 3.7. I’m not sure about your chances since you didn’t state your GPA or if you have any extra circular activities. Father being alumni helps very little but you gotta have the grades, the activities, and a good essay.

@desiboy24 thank you for responding! I won’t know my final current GPA until after this quarter for college, but since I am only a freshman, can I also use EC activities from high school or is it strictly from college?

Hello everyone. Can anybody please give me an advice about my status?

I am currently a CC student with 3.72/4.0 gpa. I will apply for Economics major.

I already finished Two English courses with an “A” and Calculus 1 and 2 with A and B.

Also I finished both Micro and Macro Econ with B and A.

I don’t have specific ECs.

Short internship experience during my high school at my My father’s company.

Church Volunteer during College year.

Do I have a chance to USC as Economics?

what about Marshall Business School?

I would love to go USC!

Thanks :)
