Hi. I’m at a 4 year university and considering transferring to USC but unsure. The thing is I got credit out of english at my current university so I traditionally wouldn’t take it… do I still have to?? Even though I technically got credit for it? Idk what to do for next semester…
I’m looking to transfer to Marshall as a sophomore, and I also took an easier calc class that isnt Calc 1. Does that not count either? Should I just give up on trying to transfer to USC because those 2 things are required for Marshall transfer??

Is anyone here applying from the east coast? I live in North Carolina and I’m unsure if USC would be the right move seeing as UNC has a good journalism school. I am very optimistic that USC as a whole provides better opportunities though. I’m also kind of nervous about the distance

Hi everyone! So I will be applying to USC as a sophomore with a major in policy, planning, and development. I didn’t do so well in high school (graduated with a 3.4 gpa). I also didn’t do well on my ACT. However, I’m doing absolutely well in community college right now, and am taking all the transferable courses. How deeply do you guys think my poor performance in high school and ACT score will affect my admission, even though I’ll be having a high gap in college?

@MichelleSafarian Lol we’re in the exact same boat…Even GPA wise!

@michellesafarian If you have over 30 units, USC won’t look at your high school transcript at all.

Hey guys,
I’m thinking about applying to Annenberg for either PR or Communication.
However, I have heard rumors that Communication is considered a “fluff” major at most schools. I know that UCLA and UPenn are exceptions; is USC considered one as well?
Also, I am at a 3.57 GPA standing. I raised my GPA from a 2.1(from CSUF; I am attending a CCC now) would that be viewed as a significant upward trend? My ECs include being a member of PTK and AGS as well as being an A-Board member of CKI. I also work 20+ hours a week.
What do you guys think my chances are? :
Does anyone know what the most recent average GPA for acceptance into Annenberg is?

Wether they accept you or not, note that its not just about the University that makes someone great, it’s mostly about the individual that wants to succeed. My dream too is to go to SC but if i don’t get accepted, i trust that I’ll do good anywhere i go because my dreams and aspirations push me to become a better me. Get more information about USC, visit the campus and ask questions about about the programs your interested in, and try to see through there marketing strategies. There a great University but just note that you have the chance to become great with or without USC.

How important is the essay portion of the application?

Which out of the following would be easiest to get into GPA wise?

Marshall Business Admin.

Economics

or PPD Real Estate?

@bluepersimmon It helps you distinguish yourself. Treat it like its more important than GPA, because you just never know.

Yooo. I’m super bored so I’m here for probably today and tomorrow to answer any questions/give advice for transfer. A bit about myself, I transferred to Viterbi as a chemical engineering major in the Fall of 2013. I am more knowledgeable about engineering majors. Hit me up

Hey @CorruptTheory super bored in my dorm as well, how was your GPA when you applied for Viterbi?

@CorruptTheory Should I still apply to USC for 1 year transfer even if I’m barely following their transfer reqs/areas/whatever they’re called? I’ll probably finish 1st semester with a 4.0 and have a lot of political internships and student government leadership positions under my belt.

I’m currently in calc 1 and I don’t feel too confident about getting an A or even a B. If I think I might get a C should I drop and take bus calc next semester? Or stick it out and take the highest grade I end up with?..possibly a C. I’m a first year transfer, if that makes a difference. And business major.

I have a question about when we can submit our application for transfer? the deadline is Feb 15, but I am preparing it now and wondering when it is the best time to submit it? Can I submit it on December and then send my transcripts (after fall semester finish) on Jan? when they open application for transfer?

@uscmaybe I’m not an expert but if you are a first year transfer you don’t want to be making too many mistakes.

Hi,
I have a trip planned to visit USC next week. While I’m in the area and on campus, are there any suggested meetings or appointments to schedule? Is there someone to meet with to confirm my classes are on track? Also, I know freshmen applicants can participate in interviews, is there an equivalent for transfer students?

Do any of you guys not tell people that you plan on applying to USC (or other prestigious universities) ? I go to a CC in the Midwest, where most people set their sights on a state school… When people ask I just say that I want to go out of state.

@Numbersz Why are you ashamed on mentioning it?

I feel like I would have much better opportunities at a good university like USC, but I don’t want to put down the schools that other people are counting on.
