@anon5745
You can still get a scholarship in the mail, they can take a few days depending on your location. Lucky me, my house is right between the Priority Mail 2 day and 3 day zones according to the USPS map.
Is it safe to assume that if you got the financial aid postcard from USC today or last Friday, it’s their “gentle” way of saying you didn’t get the scholarship, and that the official no-scholarship letter will arrive in a few days? Also, if you applied by Dec 1, will you find out about admission acceptance or denial earlier than others, even if you didn’t get a scholarship? It would be tough to wait until the end of March for a decision when you made an effort to hit the early Dec 1 deadline. Any insight?
Hi, I got my acceptance lettter, NJ, right before the storm. I am really excited. But I couldn’t find anything on merit based scholarships. Isn’t this the batch of letters sent out to students who got scholarship consideration?
I got my financial aid card and the acceptance package at the same time today lol
@ARandomGeek I live right by Chicago though, and if letters are already reaching NJ I would think I would’ve gotten mine by now. I’m not really an applicant for the Presidential scholarship, but possibly Deans if I’m lucky. Just being negative while I’m impatient
@lovehawaii5 I called the office and she said anyone applied before Dec 1 will get an update in Jan/Feb, even if its a rejection of scholarship
Thanks @anon5745 for that update. Only received the postcard today and nothing else. Not sure if it has any meaning but staying hopeful…
I live in central New York and nothing came today. Since people in NJ got theirs today, do you guys think it’s safe to assume no scholarship for me?
I got my acceptance packet today and am a Presidential Scholarship finalist. That’s cool
@SETH656: This means most likely you are getting a Dean Scholarship.
Just a quick question. I haven’t received a package yet, but the weather outside is pretty bad (3/4 foot of snow probably and still growing). Is there a chance that the package got delayed? Or do they still deliver in this sort of weather?
My son got the yellow packet! IDK if there is a scholarship or not because I am waiting for him to open it and he has a scholar bowl match so won’t be home until late. Will post details and stats later. We live in Illinois…just east of St. Louis!
Okay so if I don’t get the packet in Northern CA today afternoon, I’m prob not getting one right lol
mail came…but no packet…so probably not getting any scholarship…from bay area
also i checked online on usps…we are in the 1-day delivery area
Accepted with a Presidential Scholarship!! Such a great day
I’ll post my stats soon but in the meanwhile here’s my chance thread if people are interested in seeing them: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1718214-please-chance-me-ill-chance-back-nyu-usc-und-emory-vandy-uofm-bc.html#latest
By the way, I had a 3.8 UW and a 2180, so YES they do look past numbers.
@tashanicole @balhbalh @awesomekid My goodness. Y’all need to relax. The weather has been crazy. You can’t expect everything to come in on the same day. Be patient. They are also mailing letters that say you aren’t gonna be considered. When you get your mail, you will know. Stop looking into small things like portals not working, not getting mail in 2 business days, and getting financial aid post cards. In the words of the great Aaron Rodgers. R-E-L-A-X. Relax.
@CaliCash no weather problems here friend…bay area is in its 60s…so delay due to weather in CA is not a possibility imo
@bahlbahl Look dude, relax. This stuff takes time.
@balhbalh You know that it’s much more difficult for us to get the scholarship as there are more applicants in CA.
From Cincinnati, Ohio and selected for Presidential Scholarship. Does anyone know if I can combine this with their other half-tuition National Merit scholarship?
I live in a small town in Tennessee…really hoping I just didn’t get it today because it’s a rural area
