*******OFFICIAL USC Class of 2019 Results/Discussion Thread**********

@11Premed11‌ , my son will be attending by himself. He will be going for the Mon/Tue session.

Can someone make a page for admitted students on facebook

Can we change our major(within the same college of course) when we go for the interview?

@arob1129‌ administration will probably make one in April when most people are admitted.

@drblack‌

I don’t think that’s a good idea since I hear they’ll bring professors/those involved in your major to interview and meet you. I believe the student you’ll follow will likely also be in the major from your application. Trust me, you’ll be able to change your major as late and later than registration day, so I’d wait till after the interview at the very least.

@FriendlyNerd888‌ Okay! Thank you for the information. To be honest, i don’t even want to change my major (Health and Humanity) I have just decided from the get go I want to double major in Biological Sciences as well…

I primarily want to do this because I want to be involved with the Freshman Science Honors program

@arob1129 agreed, if anyone has made/is going to make a fb group for people that have already been accepted please post the link

How bad is getting 2 B+'s (3.7ish gpa, now a 3.85 overall) on midterms lol… (not admitted yet)?

Has anyone gotten the Dean’s scholarship letter in the mail? I saw mine on the portal but it hasn’t mailed yet

@awesomekid‌

By midterms do you mean your finals (as in the tests)? Colleges don’t see those. If you meant semester 1 grades, two B+s aren’t too bad especially if you’re taking an intensive coarseload and balancing all your usual ECs. You should be just fine.

@Ahmedabad1968 I received it on Monday afternoon, but the letter was dated for the 23rd. But if you want to know your decision, log in to your my youSC portal. They have the admit and scholarship letters there too :slight_smile: It came as a big yellow DHL packet to my place.
PS: You applied before Dec 1st right? If not, its too early for you to be notified. If yes, check the portal or expect an email that would probably tell you that you’re still in the pool. :slight_smile:

@crhomberg21 same. It would probably take 3 days for it to reach me, I believe since I’m an international student and the admission package also arrived 4 days after the letter was dated.

Got my email the 27th

@FriendlyNerd888‌ Yeah sorry, I meant final grades. I have a more intensive courseload this year with more extensive EC participation (more officer positions, got more awards, etc.) so hopefully that should be okay lol!

Hello all, really confused. Do we get into a particular school like Marshall or Dornsife?? Or do we just get into the school itself and then chose the particular school we are attending. For instance, if I put down Business Administration as my first choice and then Sociology as my second choice on the common app does that mean that I will only get into Marshall and if not be rejected, get into the school in general and then select my major, or if I was to get rejected from Marshall I would get into Dornsife?? Please help! So confused and scared because Marshall is so hard to get into and I thought selecting my major didn’t make that much of a difference!!

@ngj123‌
You get admitted to the specific school. I think that if Marshall rejects you, then Dornsife would check to see if they want you.

Hi blue skies,
It’s okay, I do have a horse in the race, and we got “the letter”. It kind of stinks until you read it several times. It’s just life and kids need to learn to get over disappointments and move on quickly. I am pretty shocked that I’ve seen a couple mentions of international students with only 2000-2100 or so SAT’s getting merit. But, we can always pick another school if we disagree with one school’s policies!
Anyway, “the letter” does let you know where you stand and allows you to start focusing on other schools, many just as well regarded, that are making you better offers!
