@redwall1521 they are “required” to tell us by this date? Do you mean, required by the university or required by law?? If it’s by law, that’s really interesting information. I’ve never heard of that before.
@Newsie2015
I meant April 1st, the date that they are required to send out information
@Newsie2015
Usually if colleges don’t have a late application date or is not rolling admissions, they will send out decisions (accept, waitlist, deny) by April 1. Most schools send them out early, such as MIT on 3/14 at 1:59.
Did you all not get he email that said all this? It clearly states that if you were not one of the 1200 scholorship recipients, that you will find out by April 1st. They also said and I quote, “there are 8,000 spaces left” besides the 1200 scholorship spaces that are already taken.
Makes sense, last years data, the 1200 would come out of the Fall Admits. 6K admitted go elsewhere.
Fall Admits 9,358
Fall Enrolls 3,098
Fall Applicants 51,920
I got sooo excited when I received a thick small envelope from USC today…financial aid booklet #-o
So there’s a possibility that we’ll know our decisions by the end of the month? That just seems odd. USC has never done that before as far as I know.
@LegacyMom I couldn’t help but read your post from a few days back regarding how your son got into the BCA program. That is the exact program I applied to and perhaps the only reason USC is my top school. Would you mind explaining the process of how your son was accepted?
@DL43516 Yes that seems very odd. I think we will know by the end of the month if anymore information is needed but won’t be notified until late March of the admission decision.
About the Q&A portion of the Thematic Option application, are the responses meant to be essay-length or just a few sentences? There is a 2500 character limit (around 400 words), and there are five questions.
Hi @tinyone Yes, my son was very blessed to get into the BCA. He had initially applied to the SCA for Flim and Television Production and did not get in. He did, however, get into the Tisch school at NYU. Despite that, he was so in love with USC that he decided to go to USC as an undeclared major. We didn’t even know that the BCA existed at the time. A family friend told us about the BCA that spring. We called Marshall and they told us that he had to be accepted to Marshall first. So he applied to Marshall and was accepted right away. (Honestly, I don’t know if that is how they do things these days, He had only applied to SCA with no backup, so was initially admitted as undeclared.) After he was accepted to Marshall, there was a separate application for the BCA, Again, things may have changed now. But, five years ago, you had to get accepted to Marshall first and THEN they pick the BCA candidates. Also, upon admission, Marshall will invite their top applicants to participate in the Global Leadership Program. One of the perks of being in the Global Leadership Program was that you get priority for the BCA spots. Despite being invited to be in Global Leadership, my son did not get into the BCA initially, because all the spots had been filled before he even applied to Marshall. At the time, Marshall only took 50 kids at the start of the year and if you didn’t get in then, you didn’t get in ever. But, as luck would have it, that year they started opening spots in the second semester, so he got in. It was the best thing that could have happened to him, academically. So the timeline back then was. 1. Get into Marshall. 2. Get invited to the GLP. 3. Apply to BCA, though you can still apply to BCA without getting into GLP. Good luck!
Has any RD here gotten accepted? I know it is early, and it is not March yet, but, I have heard that USC sends out notifications in waves starting in Feb?
No RD applicants will hear until late March
@exeterkid31 @cpcali what? There is no EA or ED at USC
Yes, no EA or ED but, if you apply for scholarship you have already gotten your decision from USC in January. So, that is why I referred to RD as in if you have not apply for scholarships.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think only the one who got scholarship got their decisions.
@seal16 You are absolutely right!
@CPCali there is no EA or ED. Only RD. Those who applied in time for scholarship consideration heard whether or not they got one. If they didn’t receive a scholarship, that doesn’t mean they won’t be accepted, they will hear at the same time as everyone else.
if you are a scholarship finalist that means you have been accepted regardless of whether or not you end up receiving
the scholarship.
Does anyone know when regular USC applicants heard last year? I am guessing about March 15?
I checked last year’s threads and it looks like people didn’t find out until Match 28.
