3.6 weighted gpa, 3.4 unweighted. 1790 gpa. )Showed great improvement from sophomore to junior year.) 5 APs. Good EC’s, track for all four years of HS, and I have a job. I think my essays were pretty good too but who knows. I applied under the Sociology Major not because I was trying to pick an unpopular major, but because I am actually interested in the topic. I know my stats aren’t that great but I am still hopeful. (I am a black female.) Anyone with similar information to mine? Comment back, I’m nervous!!!
I wrote about how I apply my pre track race focus and mentality to other pursuits in my life for my non academic essay.
@trackgirl916 I can 100% relate to your situation. My GPA is a 4.0 but my SATs are an 1870. I have 2 jobs, play 2 varisty sports, am the FBLA regional treasurer, yearbook editor, student rep for spirit club, and am a part of national, spanish, and business honor society. I just hope that will be enough to make up for my subpar test scores.
@Viibezz what’s your major? Do you have any more leadership?
Does anyone know when Scholarship Decisions are released?
About a month ago I was asked to send in additional documents for them to determine my financial aid. Good sign or no?
Financial Aid officies and Admissions work completely independent of one another during the app process, they just want to make sure you have your financial aid is in line if you get accepted
did anyone apply for Thornton School of Music?
@DL43516 I’m was accepted into my city’s junior leadership program in 11th grade and I am in executive council. I am also involved in few other clubs. Additionally, I try to fit in as much community service as possible. I applied to Roski for a BFA in fine arts.
@Viibezz well I think you should be okay. Arts programs don’t place near as much weight on testing.
I leave on the 26th for a few days and really nervous I won’t be able to get my decision before I leave! I live in San Diego, so just two hours south. Do you guys think I will get it on the morning of the 26th?? This is going off of the assumption USC sends out decisions on the 25th.
@DL43516 You really think the art programs don’t give as much attention to scores? From what I’ve been told, they focus on both your portfolio and scores.
The packets will be mailed out on 3/25, from what I have heard from admissions.
Do you guys think they have already made the decisions? Do u think they are finalizing some?
Decisions have been made for the most part…I can’t answer whether or not there are still some stragglers still undecided but from now until next Wed, they will be preparing the packets for mailing out nxt week.
Praying I get in but I know I wont… I wrote a killer “why USC” essay and had a great interview but for college now a days it seems like everything is never enough… Waiting for my rejection letter is gonna be terrible…
@jessdilla2015 what program did you apply for?
@Jessdilla2015 rejection? Think positive and say acceptance letter.
@FilmMaker1 well I’m not saying scores aren’t still important; they are. However, it is my opinion that a spectacular portfolio could likely make up for subpar test scores, especially provided that the applicant is still ranked in the top ten percent and has a relatively good UW GPA and good course rigor.
Has anyone gotten a letter from USC admissions dated March 6th? It’s a generic “why choose USC” letter, but the timing seem odd.
