I definitely agree that it will hurt more the second time. I still really haven’t dealt with the fact that I was rejected because I am still waiting to hear their “final” decision. Sad, but true.

Honestly, my appeal meant so much to me and was so personal - I just hope it was enough :-(

anyone hear anything about the number of ppl that enrolled. and if the number of extra open spaces. like last year, they had a good number of spaces open for those successful appeals.

hey has anyone’s status date updated?
because i know the letters are supposed to arrive thursday but the first time we applied they updated the dates the day that the decision was sent and thats how a lot of my friends knew that they had gotten in before they got their letters.
and i talked to admissions and they said they will all be sent in one wave and this is just speculation but i have a feeling that the people like me in socal will get theirs before people across the country just because of the mailing system, unless usc overnighted it which is also a possibility since they did that with the acceptance letters for the initial decisions

My status was “updated” on 4/15/09. However, the message didn’t change. I’m assuming that they updated the status after they received my appeal. Only two more days until we know the results for sure…

I don’t know how many places they have for transfers. Is USC under quota? I’m hoping a lot of people decided not to go and there is a lot of extra space…

USCgirl: Ya i think that really is the million dollar question. Their yield tends to be directly proportional to their appeal acceptances. They increased the amount they accepted this year because of the economy but they might not have done enough, or at least i am praying that they didnt. But i found a great article from the trojan daily online where the dean of admissions and a few other high ranking USC administrators give comments about what they want in appeals (it was in response to last years pool of appeal applicants). They said that of those seven hundred who applied almost three hundred were eliminated just due to the way they wrote their essays. They either wrote that they were the perfect usc student or that they should have gotten in the first time they applied and the dean of admissions says that if u wrote that u want to get in just because u love usc then u wont because there are thousands of kids who love usc but that doesnt mean that they should accept you and if u say u should have gotten in the first time they kinda take that as an insult that because it makes it sound like they did a bad job. Pretty much they only focus on new information, that is all they really care about. He also said that they only let in one or two students off of appeal because they really did make a mistake the first time. So ya, i know there is no point in talking about this now since we already turned ours in but if u wrote your essay purely about new information then maybe we can go to sleep a little bit easier since we know that we are one of four hundred who wrote what they wanted rather than one of seven hundred =]

how are we finding out? through the site or through email???

FUTrUSCgldmnsaks: i don’t think they would release how many openings they have. but from what i’ve read, seems like they have more open spots. but who knows. :/

No they send an email and if u got in then u get a letter a few days after the email, but whether you get in or not, we all find out our decision in the email

haha we’re kind of like the blind leading the blind. Really none of us know what exactly they’re looking for or when they will tell us. I am just going to think positive thoughts.
