[<em>] College transferring from: Santa Monica College

[</em>] Pre-reqs completed: 4th semester of a language.

[</em>] ECs listed on app: I've lived abroad, I spoke about my work experience, and how back in the day I was all into sports. (I used to be home schooled because of gymnastics). I honestly didn't really have any EC's besides work. I told them how I'm obsessed with languages and self-study in my free time, as an "unusual hobby" haha.
[<em>] Job/Work Experience: I've worked in restaurants and hospitality since I was 16, hostess, serving, bartending.
[</em>] Essays (subject and responses): I wrote about how after high school I decided to attend university in the UK but after a semester I decided to drop out and go to school in the US (although I ended up staying in Edinburgh, Scotland for a year, and travelled around Europe a bit) because I wasn't happy with the school or my major, and I incorporated that into my passion for international relations.

[li] Comments: Pretty stupid to only apply to one school, so I'm glad I got in. It's the only school I really wanted to go to. [/li]<br>I also had 2 W's on my transcript (I didn't explain either of them) and my first 2 semesters at SMC I took 12 units one semester, and 8 units another semester. I explained that I worked to pay rent, for my car, etc, and that when I attend USC I will not be working and will devote all my time to academic related activities. Those of you who have W's or are scared of your part-time status, don't loose hope!

I didn't settle to the schools I was accepted to back in high school and I'm happy I didn't. It's the next step to achieving my goals in life. I'm really very honored and relieved and EXCITED.

[</em>] Essays (subject and responses): Newtons First Law of Motion. I spoke about my high school years and how I did not understand what was ahead of me in life, and how that distorted my "path of goals".
[<em>] Letters of Recommendation:ONE letter of recommendation, which was required for the school of architecture.
[/ul]Other:[ul]
[</em>] Other schools applied to: UVA, VT, Catholic university. I got accepted to to VT (for engineering) and Catholic (for architecture), and was wait-listed for UVa (for architecture).
[li] Comments: I don't know where to start, so I'll try to make this as direct as possible. Architecture is a VERY competitive program due to it's class size, they usually like to keep the school small. My portfolio, which was the determinant of my USC fate, was quite strong. The pieces in my portfolio were NOT redundant, but at the same time, it wasn't all over the place. I had 5 photographic pieces, a conceptual design, a piece of furniture I designed and built, spacial design, and miscellaneous works of graphic design and sketching. The main aspect of your portfolio is that you must be honest, don't try to be "loud" but at the same time, express your design and creativity skills as much as possible. USC really likes to see the INDIVIDUAL, not the student. They do care about grades, but NOT just grades, they are looking for someone who is not perfect but have achieved something in their life that changed their perspective on life. Good Luck to Everyone Else and NEVER lose HOPE! [/li][/ul]</p>

<p>** Spring Grade Request - Marshall / Business Admin **</p>
<p>** Stats:**
College transferring from: Indiana University - Bloomington, where he was already accepted into the Kelley School of Business as a sophomore (only 20% of those applying as sophomores are accepted)--note that he did not transfer to IU-B, he attended there as a freshman and sophomore
Entering as: Junior
GPA: 3.35 or so--but note comments at bottom
Units completed: 61 units (all transferable) (actually has 64 units completed if you count the retake of Financial Acct to improve grade from "C" to "A"); will take one more summer school class to bring total back up to 64
Units in progress: 18 (15 completed 3 weeks ago, but dropped one course when it was determined it wouldn't fulfill a USC gen ed requirement)
Pre-reqs completed: ALL for Marshall, plus both optional Accounting courses
GEs completed: ALL, except Diversity course and Arts and Letters (last one is required to be completed at USC)</p>
<p>** Subjective:**
ECs listed on app: President of Management Consulting club, Led 500 individuals in performing beach cleanup efforts in Northern California, Chosen to play lead in "Julius Caesar" in high school despite not even being in a single thespian/theatre class, Commodore of Sailing Team, Dean's List (multiple semesters at IU)
Job/Work Experience: Currently doing financial internship at a Silicon Valley tech-firm, has worked every summer for previous four years, even when taking summer school courses for first four weeks last year
Essays (subject and responses): Newton's Law of Motion--discussed how 1st day of class at Indiana Univ. went from nightmare to positive experience
Letters of Recommendation: One from Public Speaking professor at Indiana Univ.; one from Economics professor at Univ of Virginia (took summer classes)</p>
<p>** Other:**
Other schools applied to: Emory (Pending)
Comments: GPA is 3.6 if you don't count optional accounting/technology courses already taken and passed at Indiana Univ and Univ of Virginia--which both schools use as their "weed-out" classes (40% of each class fails or drops). Didn't really have choice in whether to take for USC, since IU requires these be completed sophomore year</p>

[li] Comments: I AM A TROJAN!! USC has been my dream school since I was 12. I also go to the football games as I LOVE TROJAN FOOTBALL!! (Fight On!!) This is one of the best things that I ever happened to me and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to learn at USC. I know USC will get me to my dream carrer. [/li]I am also a first generation college student and I hope that I will have relatives take advantage of my legacy because who wouldn't want to be apart of the Trojan Family?!!
I did 3 years at my CSU and this was my first time applying to USC. I wanted to be prepared before applying to transfer and I'm glad I was.
I had a high school GPA of 3.1 and college GPA of 3.6-3.7, USC loves upward trends so don't get discouraged if you aren't too happy about your high school grades. Take time on your essays and don't be afraid to be passionate, that is how they get to know you. I personally feel that is what got me in, especially for Annenberg. Let them know you want to be there, that you need to be there. </p>
<p>Accepted - Undeclared, but applied to Annenberg as a comm major... :(</p>
