Subjective:

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): musician, as I play violin, sing, (especially opera but also jazz) play mandolin and guitar professionally, also play piano, have given over 500 concerts, and one in Carnegie Hall; formed a family band, have won competitions in violin and voice, write poetry which has been published, draw and paint, have formed a Shakespeare club and direct plays, co-created reading club etc. (I sent the college three separate art supplements - one for music (violin classical, violin jazz/singing, and opera), one for poetry, and one for visual arts.)
Job/Work Experience: Teach professionally in a music studio - students of all ages-, play lots of gigs in very good venues.
Volunteer/Community service: Volunteer at local library, ie putting on puppet shows for children and organizing special events, (done 150 hours of this) and play for retirement communities and charities. (have done this regularly since I was 5 or 6 years old)
Summer Activities: Went to Berlin (granted funding money) to learn German at a German school (and to visit the incredible cultural sites), played in France in a reputed jazz festival. Year before, got accepted to Vianden Music Festival with full tuition scholarship but couldn’t go, as my mother was very ill.
Essays: My essays were really good. I tried to emphasize my unique qualities, ie, being born and raised in France until I was five (and as a result, being bilingual), being raised in an intensely cultural household, LOVING Scriabin’s music and Nabokov’s works, etc.
Recommendations: All extremely favorable recommendations.
Counselor Rec: Very positive
Additional Rec: One from my violin teacher, who has international career and is a wonderful human being. I think it also was very favorable. Also, another from my English tutor, who is an Emeritus Professor from USC. I am positive that it was a good one.
Interview: no interview

Reflection

Strengths: Strong grades, excellent recommendations from reputed people, great essays that really showed why I am unique as an individual, art supplements, extra curriculars.
Weaknesses: Very low test score in SAT math. Not enough AP tests and classes.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: The fact that I showed I was a “Renaissance Woman” who dabbles in many different forms of art and who is intellectually curious. I showed I was talented, and that I was different, especially in my essays and art supplements. Those I think made a strong case for my admission. My sister also applied, and I hear that that is a good hook. She was a very strong applicant herself and got accepted with me! Hooray!
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Don’t know yet! I hear back from all the others much later.
