Does this mean I was deferred?

“Admissions decisions, including decisions for students who were deferred from early action into regular review, are not available at this time. Please check back on April 1, 2013.”

Does this mean I was deferred?

Just to clarify: For US students, UVa is need blind for admissions. That means that the row entitled “applied for Fin. Aid” is irrelevant to the UVa admissions decision. It can matter for some other colleges, particularly for students on the wait list of another college.

“Admissions decisions, including decisions for students who were deferred from early action into regular review, are not available at this time. Please check back on April 1, 2013.”

Does this mean I was deferred?

Did you apply EA? If not it means decisions for all RD applicants and deferred EA candidates won’t be available until April 1st.

I did apply EA. I used my questbridge application however. It’s a scholarship program for low income families. Should I email them?

[ /list][ b]General Comments: Rodman scholars! UVa is probably my second or third choice, but I would be happy to go here!

I think they need to make the SAT harder. Too many of these students have close to perfect scores.

Haha, keep in mind that the pool of people who post on this site is not exactly representative. As I understand it (but I’m by no means an expert), the SAT was “recalibrated” several years ago so that 500 would be the mean on each part of the test. There’s no question that this inflated scores on the upper end. Here’s one conversion chart: [SAT Score Conversion Chart](SAT Score Conversion Chart)

I remember a Q and A from the College Board that was dispelling “myths”.

Q: Is it true that a student receives 600 points for signing their name?

A: Definitely not true… if a student doesn’t answer any questions, the score is not reported… blah blah blah…

(It turns out you need to TRY to answer one question to get a 600).

 That almost made me angry.

This is CC, as you know. It is a stacked sample pool.

It certainly reflects positively on UVA.

Jr Mint - Charlie is a long time poster and alumni. The Internet lacks body language, tone of voice, etc, which is over 50% of how most of us actually communicate. I’m going to take a guess he wasn’t being serious, just noting a lot of high scores. You’re absolutely correct, this is a skewed sample of high achieving EA students. Having said that, UVa turns down both instate and OOS students with sky high scores each year. It always helps, but it’s just one part of the puzzle.

Can anyone show me how to add a smirk icon?

Yes, I was kidding.

;) I knew and actually love his posts. If only I could rep him…

I was joking too, but from now on, you will know when I truly get angry, because I will use this .

charlie, the  emoticon is :rolleyes : with the space removed.

Ahhh, I should have known you could read between the lines Jr. Mint. One would think I was a middle child. :o You and Charlie were obviously doing fine without my help. <slides back="" into="" the="" woodwork=""></slides>

No need, iggy. Friends forever? :)

Ok, so off the OP’s topic, but all the same… where DO you all find the little lesson in making the faces on here? I’m emoji-challenged. I can learn though, see?
