Official UVA Transfer Thread Fall 2011

Sephyre - Same here. I’ve decided to pick two of the longest movies I own to kill time. After waking up from a Nyquil-induced sleep, that is, since there’s no way I’ll be able to on my own tonight.

flyeagles - I got a letter the first time I had to send more information for fin aid as well! And I know I’m overanalyzing, but it’s the only thing keeping me sane at this point in the game.

Good luck to all of you! (Though if you take my spot, it’s on)

Yeah seriously good luck to everyone, especially the GAA’s! You guys have definitely worked for it and deserve to be admitted.

and yes, it is so on!

Also about the financial aid to do list thing. Im not sure how similar the freshman admissions and transfer admissions are, but i applied for freshman admissions last year. I was waitlisted and I remember that although I had chosen financial aid in my application, never once did I receive notifications asking me to submit things in. I didn’t even do the PROFILE and they never asked me to complete it or anything. This just gives me more hope now :).

Good luck to everyone!!!

I am not quite sure about this either… If the check mark means your app is ready to be read then what is the green dot means - what is the difference between the app is complete and ready to be read? But of course I also don’t believe your decision is made some 20 minutes after you call them… Anyway we will see it in 18 hours…
I am actually so nervous that I am a little depressed now… OOS, no guaranteed transfer, grades not perfect, but currently in a great university and top-notch dept with valuable experiences and strong recommendation…

the green dot means that there is no listed missing documentation. i imagine there could be some preparation between those two things. software and human beings often have very different systems for things.

I did not receive the email either and my last name starts with an s. Also something to think about, there were numerous people on this “phantom list” that received the initial email but not the follow up apology email. You would think that if they had a designated list that this email was accidentally sent out to, then they would easily be able to send the follow up to the same people on the phantom list. Just something to think about… For that reason I don’t believe it has something to do with being accepted or not. As far as snail mail goes, I can’t say much. I have all my mail forwarded to an address that I never check, so if anything has come, I won’t know till later.

17.5 hours…

Ugh, long 17 hours. Not to mention I have a countdown app on my phone that I stare at every time I’m not refreshing my college conf. app.

Assuming decisions come up right at 5 EST, which is 2 here, I’ll have to sit through my whole math class from 1:45-3 unable to check my decision. That should be fun.

DesertFever - They come up right at 5, though people sometimes have trouble getting to the page since so many are trying. I applied last year and got through within a couple minutes.

Do you have a smart phone? I wouldn’t be able to resist.

I have to get up for a once a week Biology/Lab course that runs 8:30 - 2:30 so I’ll be preoccupied. Driving home, stopping for food, and stopping for groceries and I should be home by 4.

Just got to kill time with that final hour :D

Latest (unnecessary) worry: I just read an article about how the coverage of the Royal Wedding could cause delays/trouble online tomorrow.

[Will the royal wedding break the Internet? - CNN.com](Will the royal wedding break the Internet? - CNN.com)

Those crazy Brits…

Yes I have a smartphone and I think this is the only time It’s really helped induce stress. I am gonna go crazy all day tomorrow. I’m working the rolex until 6 pm so I’m gonna have to fine out in front of all my fellow work mates! I’ll probably lock myself in the bathroom to read it though!!!

I’m supposed to be driving to visit my boyfriend tomorrow. I told him I wasn’t going to leave until after I found out, just because I don’t want to check in front of all his family and our friends. I know I’m going to be in tears either way haha

17 hours everyone! Best of luck!

Totally understand where you’re coming from, brishe! This is the longest I’ve waited for anything and I know tomorrow is going to be a big day in my life one way or another…

16 hours and 34 minutes remain.

Funny – when I try to log into SIS and check my admissions status, it still says to come back on the 1st.

I’m also waiting for W&M. I think they’ll come out today, but last year I don’t think people got the email until fairly late in the evening. Hoping that they do come out on the same day, as I’d like to get all of the news, good or bad, at the same time. The worst would be getting bad news from UVA and then having to think about what that means for W&M (and my future) over the weekend.

8 hours 51 minutes
