***Official UW Class of 2021 Acceptance Thread***

I haven’t heard anything yet and I am also from CT @Sandy12345

This is really random, but maybe a good distraction for everyone that hasn’t heard back–what are the best scholarship sites?

Does anyone know when rejection emails are sent out? So far, I don’t know anyone who has received a rejection letter.

Last year I think rejections started on the 17th. Not sure though.

@uwapplicant21 Okay. If I had to guess, I would say that I did not get DA. According to the department website, only 150 out of 5000 were offered DA (3% only!!!), and they would receive info in their packet about DA. I haven’t got my letter yet, but my transcript says pre-science so I bet I didn’t get in. Disappointing, but that’s life. Anyone have comp sci on their unofficial transcript?

Cause I have seen this come up a few times…from the AD a couple years back when my D was admitted - 97% of CS majors are admitted pre-major or pre-science like my D was. Very few get direct acceptance, and if you did, congrats! If you are pre-science, then you start working toward the major and apply for it soph or junior year after taking some required course and rocking a really good gpa. CS is very competitive there. I am sure if you look at the UW CS web site there is good information on it. Not getting DA was the deal breaker for my D because we didn’t want her in a “two year gladiatorial stress-fest” (thank you @aquapt - love that term and use it often!!) trying to get into her major. Other majors aren’t nearly as difficult to get into or get DA to.

If my stats are incorrect, I apologize @AskUWAdmissions, feel free to correct me. And as Dori says…just keep swimming, just keep swimming…

@tina15 I have the same stats. 3.98 GPA, 25 ACT, and I applied for bio.

@amwarren fastweb.com, ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

@peachlemon Nope, not first gen.

Where do you check on the portal and do you also get an email?

Do they release admissions by state or is it just a randomized process? I’m a little confused…

It seems very randomized to me.

I just checked my portal and got in! So excited! I live in Michigan so it might take a while for my letter to come. Does anyone know how to find out about scholarships and if you were offered one? Will it be in the letter?

Did you check earlier today? Or was it updated mid-day? @pgh123

For those who have been accepted, have you found out any info about financial aid and scholarships?

@scubadiverman I checked at around 8pm eastern time, but I didn’t recieve any email regarding the update.

If you get one, scholarship info will be in the acceptance packet.

@pgh123 Was ur transcript loaded?

Is there a facebook page?

@CADREAMIN, your info is a little dated, and after two years, maybe it’s about time to let it go.

A recent article in the Seattle Times about Paul Allen’s $40 million gift to the establish the new Allen School for Computer Science & Engineering reported:

"Students are usually admitted at the end of their freshman year or the start of their sophomore year. But the school also admits some students directly, at the same time they are admitted to the university as freshmen. This year, direct admission will be offered to 150 students. All but five of them are Washington residents.

"Although computer science and engineering is a tough program to get into, the picture is getting better. In 2016, 43 percent of bachelor’s applicants were admitted to the program. In previous years, the admission rate was lower.

“[The CSE Department] is now enrolling about 370 new undergraduate students each year, double the number it was able to accommodate in 2012… This year, it is asking for $6 million from the Legislature to increase the number of students it graduates by 120 degrees per year. Most of that increase would be in bachelors degrees, Lazowska said.”
