@miphas If you think you have a chance, I’d say try to get the appeal. I’m thinking about doing the same thing. Here is the link to the UW website that briefly talks about appeals. They said that about one in twenty appeals are overturned.

I’m shocked. My dad went to UW and I thought I had a sure chance of acceptance.
Waitlisted. In state. Overall had really good ECS and above average scores. I’m honestly a little shocked to be honest. Question - does everyone who is denied get the additional paragraph about being added to the waitlisted? Or are the rejected applicants and waitlisted applicants sent different notification emails?
Hey can someone who hasn’t filled out the wait list form and submitted, copy and paste what it says at the top? I forgot to get the dates that wait listed people will hear back on their final denial or acceptance and need to know so I can postpone paying the money to enroll in my second choice as long as possible.
Rejected and sooo devastated

Still haven’t gotten my acceptance letter even though my transcript loaded on 3/14 and portal updated 3/15. A lot of people at my school/district have already received their letters so I’m wondering what’s the hold up with mine. I live across the Sound from Seattle.
Do you think it would be worth it to make an appeal?
OOS - East Coast
33 ACT
3.9 UW
4.2 W
My essay was about how a TBI began my desire to become a neurosurgeon. Forget the other one lol. Very strong ECs. 5 APs/6 offered.
Super disappointed because I got in to far more selective schools, yet UW was my first choice. Is the appeal worth it?
@sarah2499 I think it would be best to go elsewhere, given your stats. Why try to settle for a University which didn’t want you when a a far better one did want you?
From reading this thread, it appears that OOS acceptance is significantly harder than in state is. This was true last year (maybe it’s common) as well.
http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/education/uw-sees-18-rise-in-applications-to-be-a-husky shows what last year looked like. For in state students, I’d expect the numbers to be about the same (65% acceptance rate last year) as I doubt the state’s population has changed much in the last year and, likewise, there’s no indication the UW admissions process has changed significantly.
