***Official UW Class of 2022 Decision Thread***

@chaoticcosmos same here! @UWadmissionstaff how do we link our applications to our previously made UW NetID’s?

@UWadmissionstaff I got an email from the STARS program at UW, saying “Dear future UW Student”. Does that mean anything or did everyone get that?

@Bobby_SK I don’t know what that is but “dear future UW student” sounds really promising

@UWadmissionstaff thanks, i am sure you undertsand an anxious mom this end

I don’t think it means much. I got the same email, letter, and even a phone call from the Stars program. It’s like a scholarship, essentially. It doesn’t affect your chances of admissions to the school itself.

@UWadmissionstaff My aunt was UW alumni, and she told me that if you get admitted into UW, you are only admitted to the school, not the major you want (example CS). Is it true? Am I supposed to apply again once I am accepted?

After you apply to the school and are admitted, you have to study for a bit and apply to the school for your major. Some people go straight to the school for their major through direct admission, as they usually have exceptional grades.

@JayTee2018 So If I applied for Public Health (and put Business at an alternative major), but I want to do Business once I’m there, can I still apply for Business once I’m at UW?

Yes, you can change your majors once you’re already in the school.

@JayTee2018 Isn’t Business a capped (limited space) major? DO you know if there still is space for me then?

I’m not sure, I don’t think I or most of the people on this thread can answer your questions. I would recommend calling UW and their specific schools for more information.

That would be the foster school of business, which is very competitive. Their average accepted gpa is a 3.88 for direct admit students. If you didn’t apply direct admit you can apply- each year there is a certain amount of people who will get in (specific number fluctuates) but it can be hard as UW has a capacity problem. Many people find they may have to apply more than once for this major.

If you get accepted, do you also get an email saying that your MyUW has been updated? Or if you get an email is that automatically a rejection letter? If so, I am extremely anxious to check my email from here on.

Need a little help. i moved recently so the address on file is no longer correct. I tried to change it in the portal but i cant figure it out. Who would be the best person to call/email about this?

@weebledoowop Oh I see, thanks for helping! Yeah I heard it was competitive, so I was scared to apply. I did not apply direct admit for Business. I applied to a less competitive college in UW and put Business as my second/alternative choice. Do you know if its possible to get admitted into Business even though it’s my second choice, and if not, I would be able to apply again (soon?) if I get accepted into UW right?

@Ali059 If you go on the myUW page then click application status there’s a link to change your contact info. I had to do the same thing.

Does anyone know what time the decisions usually come out? I’m from the east coast so I’m expecting it later in the day, but it’d be great to know around what time I should check instead of checking every hour

@aweinst I don’t think you get an email from MyUW saying that it’s been updated. If you get in email from UW, it will most likely be a waitlist or rejection email, whereas acceptance letters come in the mail. As far as knowing if you got in or not through MyUW, I’m pretty sure you can check through your unofficial transcript. If it loads it most likely means you were accepted.

No [for getting admitted to foster when it was the alt], but you will be able to apply at the end of sophomore and/or freshman year for the business school.

@kwtgtc Someone from the UW Admissions office posted on this thread that decisions will most likely come out on the 5th. I wouldn’t worry about it until after this weekend is over.
