***Official UW Class of 2022 Decision Thread***

@LASENY I’m from around LA too and visited UW last year and fell in love! It’s a gorgeous campus but what I loved was that they had a really big Swedish community! I grew up in Sweden so I thought it was so cool they had a bit community there!

i wonder if only the people who hear back today are Direct Admits…I hope thats not the case!

@bigchoices2018 personally, FL is humid and way too hot. It’s so FLAT here; hills to us are speed bumps. there are only pine trees and palm trees. the weather is literally deadly, people either die in the heat or hurricanes. not to mention the crazy rednecks. the beaches are v nice! but there are soooo many snowbirds (people who travel from the north to FL for winters). in my city there’s like nothing to do and it’s filled with old people. it’s very diverse and the sun can be nice, but it’s not amazing. not to mention we don’t have seasons.

washington is literally beautiful and even if you’re not in a city there’s so much to do outdoors. even in the boring towns like Oak Harbor, it’s so cute and fun and the weather is perfect. EVEN THE GRASS IS NICER!

@magkj They have a big Swedish community? Are they actually really Swedish or heavily Americanized Swedish. I’m asking because I am from Germany, and the “German communities” in America are heavily Americanized lol

While we are at the topic of the environment in Washington. Can someone compare it to Massachusetts please?

@FloridaHusky …you are in Florida and 5 other classmates of yours applied to UW? Gosh, that is really unusual, 6 kids from the same HS, from completely across the entire country from the state of Washington and you happen to be in contact with all of them to know that they have all heard in the last few minutes. (Here in major metropolitan Texas at a large suburban HS with a graduating class of 600 and only 3 kids applied to UW, 5 total in the past 3 years.)

@kyrasj The hills are beautiful but very annoying and inconvenient. In Seattle fall/winter is too cold and summer is too humid, only spring is nice honestly. Similar to cities in Florida, Seattle is a liberal but it’s surrounded by redneck communities, places like Bellevue however have classy people but they can be very snobby and rude.

Honestly can’t wait until I finish college so I can get out of the PNW lol… The massive earthquake that is long overdue and literally no one is ready can making living here stressful.

Are you guys finding out through the portal? I’m so anxious!

I’m also from Florida, haven’t gotten a decision yet.

I am originally from Connecticut and moved here 25 yrs ago. I love the Seattle weather -not too cold in the winters and not too hot in the summers. I drive 1hr. to ski and you have mountains, the Puget Sound, and lots of theaters and museums to entertain yourself.

@CrazePhil Well, it is nothing compared to actual Swedish communities, but it is better than what I have down here in California. It is fairly Americanized but there definitely is more of an appreciation of it there. It isn’t quite as authentic as some of the towns in Wisconsin and Minnesota, but there are remnants of Swedish settling! Not quite sure how that compares to the German communities but it is a tad watered down lol

@magkj I’ll take any semi European culture at this point lol

The Pacific Northwest is so beautiful. We really do get all four seasons here and you really can have it all here. There’s the ocean, the forest, rivers/lakes, city life, and farmland. It’s so luscious here and it really is amazing. And the uw campus is just breathtaking. It is so amazing and so beautiful. It’d be difficult not to like it here

@SeattleMom1 Since you are from Connecticut I am going to assume that you’ve been to Boston. How does Seattle compare to Boston?

@CrazePhil I can totally relate! I applied to UW for Scandinavian studies for a little emphasis on European culture.

@magkj Well me being German, I of course applied for engineering lol

One thing people are leaving out is that Seattle is SUPER liberal to the point that it is absolutely intolerable at times

@CrazePhil lol well good luck! hopefully we all find out soon!

@ak9800 Eh… It’s easy to ignore sjws but it’s not easy to avoid alt-right members that vandalize dorms and cars of non-white students.
