***Official UW Class of 2022 Decision Thread***

Like I said “relative” to other universities they are extremely unorganized with all sorts of misleading emails, IG, and posts here. Just teasing us.

has anyone else gotten an email from uw about the ALVA summer internship program for incoming freshmans?

Things we ponder… if UW has to give a 2 week window for decision releases because their system cannot handle 45k+/- decision releases in a short span of time, what does that say when the “window” is now half gone and there have been no decisions released? How are they going to squeeze all 45K +/- decision releases in a week… :-?

That’s exactly what I was thinking @labegg

Anyone else signed up for “USPS Informed Delivery”? If so, does any letter or packages from UW shows up today morning?

I wish we could track exactly where our packages are like how we do the things we purchase online.

@labegg same! But at the same time the window for the acceptance/rejections to be DROPPED will be between March 1-15 meaning they could choose to start leaking decisions anytime within the timeframe and take however long to finish (this was just my interpretation after re-reading the email over and over as I waited for the first to come)

@Sumaya123 yeah I just got one… hopefully it’s a good sign?

Got one what? @Eas419

@labegg oh wait nvm yeah I mean they said the decision sent will be between 1-15 with a flow chart thing so definitely should be sent by the 15th (postal is a different issue)

My impression is that the UW communication/approach is very focused on notification via the physical envelope vs portal (or email) notification. Most schools seems to announce via portal/email and follow up with paper documents. UW appears to be the opposite or at least putting more emphasis on the envelopes. This is causing part of the confusion on timing.

I live across the Puget Sound from Seattle, nothing in the mail from UW here today.

has anyone else not received any emails from UW since that one about notifications coming out soon

@Eas419 I hope so

I feel like maybe people who got emails of rejections just don’t participate in this anymore. Do emails go out the same time as acceptance letters and portals?

@GloopyNoop omg it worked thank u so much

@LetsGoUW I got this in an email “Dear University of Washington Prospective Student,

Alliances for Learning and Vision for Underrepresented Americans (ALVA), is a program that targets underrepresented students in a variety of disciplines for summer internships. The ALVA programs are for incoming freshmen who will be attending the University of Washington Seattle campus and are interested in science research. We currently have three programs for incoming freshmen.”

The fact that it says underrepresented American probably means minority. Is that true?

I’d be excited for you more if it didn’t say “prospective student” but it cant be a bad thing @Eas419

@bogeyorpar We have the “USPS Informed Delivery” too, but I think it just shows the normal letters and postcards that will be today’s batch of mail. I don’t think we’ve ever seen a big over sized envelope - but somebody else might know differently. I think it would depend on whether the admission packages are able to be auto scanned at the sorting facility. Regardless, I checked my USPS online dashboard this morning anyway to see if anything would be coming my way soon. (but nothing coming in today’s mail.) I live in the northwest, but not Washington.
