Official Vanderbilt ED1 Class of 2020 Discussion Thread

What qualifications set the CV Scholars apart from the rest of the admitted students?

@georgiaonmymind Prestgious, likely difficult leadership and huge academic success (like top in the nation sort of deal)

Have there been any published stats on the CV scholars?

10 days 20 hours 42 minutes! we can do this!

If you look at the thread about it last year, it also seemed like the highest of the high scorers with high GPAs as well. I just hope that ED isn’t a disadvantage (because they try to entice people to attend with the scholarships, and we wouldn’t need incentive) @georgiaonmymind

@collegebobollege we asked the director of financial aid and scholarships at Vanderbilt that exact question, and he said that applying ED puts you at absolutely no disadvantage!

@SoBobolicious That’s awesome, thanks! That’s what they told me as well but I can’t help thinking there might be some influence they don’t publicize. But coming from the director of scholarships, it’s probably true (:

I saw this somewhere on cc and though it was funny

Guys how many AP classes have you/will you have taken by the time you graduate high school?

I will have taken 13. My senioritis has already kicked in though, and I’m not looking forward to taking AP exams:((((

I will have taken 10 (11 tests). My school is a specialized school though so it only offers 12 APs

I will have taken 6

@11countrymusic11 I recall reading that the common app info is not used/read by the scholarship committees. So you could reuse your essay.

Are any of yall full IB students?

Has anyone else applied for the Ingram Scholarship? Is so, who did you ask for your rec letters?

Only three. My school’s program is designed to start in 8th grade but I came in as a new freshman and it severely limited my class choice. I’ve basically taken every AP I can, and they’re adding a bunch more next year which is really annoying.

It really doesn’t matter how many AP’s you take. It is all in relation to your school’s rigor and curriculum anyways. But it is always interesting to see which ones are favorites and which ones should be, in your mind, rewritten from the current curriculum guide.

9 days 21 hour 19 minutes! Hope everyone is enjoying their days back to school!! It’s almost the holidays too so yay!!

If the deadline for the Ingram Scholarship was extended to December 5th, does that mean the deadline for the recommendations has also been extended?
