Official Vanderbilt University Fall 2012 Transfer Thread

is there any method to this? Like a correlation between when you received the completion email and when your letter was mailed? Anyone accepted want to post those two dates?

CANT WAIT ANY LONGERRRR haha

HAhaha, Kev you already know!

Yakov,

Honestly when it comes to the experience. You have to be honest with what you want. At Vanderbilt the car, clothing, and money does carry a certain level of importance. The city, however, is great since the cost of living is low there. The campus is mainly greek dominated, but the greek system isn’t exclusive. There is not so much socioeconomic diversity on campus. It’s usually the kids with the scholarships and financial aid, and then the kids who’s parents are paying full for them to attend. So you will get a lot of rich kids at Vanderbilt.

At UNC, there is a variety of people who attend. It’s a public school, but a prestigious public school on par with Vanderbilt if not better due to its resources. It offers the quintessential college experience with the town of Chapel Hill, GREAT athletics, intellectual and open-minded student body being a huge part of the experience. I am guessing from your post on the money you were offered that you might be a Covenant scholar (I am in the same boat). Basically I had to make this exact same decision. It’s obviously your decision at the end but I thought I would offer my opinion since I was in the same situation as you. Also the fact that UNC’s graduate schools are incredibly well-respected and ranked throughout the world.

raksudum

wow accepted.
I am completely surprised.
I’m from California going to school in Boston.

college gpa 3.75

For those who have been accepted, when do the financial aid packages come?
Are they generous? I wasn’t even considering Vanderbilt but now… I don’t know.

thanks!

Wow waitlisted :. Anyone know what the chances of getting off are? Are spring grades the only additional item we submit?

@ SuperPowers

I think chances are decent for waitlist. Probably around that of the acceptance rate for transfer. What were your stats btw?

@ npat89

3.84 gpa, 2 leadership positions, internships, 3 recommendations, 1950 SAT, work part time

DENIED…bummed, but expected.

@norcaltransfer

Aww man I thought you would get in. Now im just more worried. What were your stats?

Found out I was accepted because I received my financial aid award first. It is really good. I think my EFC is like 3000? Idk. But there are no loans as part of my package!

I was accepted to Vandy as a transfer from UT Austin. I’m a girl and I’m interested in rushing. I know the greek life is quite competitive. Does anyone know how many transfers get into sororities/what the deal is with that? I know its kinda of superficial to base my decision on that, but its a huge part of the school and I wanna be a part of it. Let me know if anyone knows anything. Thanks!

Well, if you’re a hot girl, you should have no problem. That’s about the only metric sororities care about lol.

Did anyone else hear back? I still haven’t heard yet.

I keep waiting for the mail all day but have yet to hear.

hopefully we don’t have to wait much longer

The wait’s killing me! I called admissions today and the lady on the phone told me that they have made a decision but won’t release it over the phone. My letter has been dispatched and i should receive it in coupe of days. I’m so nervous! I really want to get inn! So far been accepted to Emory and University of Michigan-ann arbor. Also applied to cornell but waiting anxiously for their decision.

Ya I called the lady just to ask when the letters are going out and she said I should get mine this week. If I don’t get it by next wednesday, I can call for the decision… I’m so nervous

npat89 - When did you get your app complete email?
