Official Vanderbilt University Fall 2013 Transfer Thread

you’re not alone…haven’t gotten anything from them either.

May have to do w/the fact that 0 schools have received my SAT scores that I requested back on Feb 4th…check cashed Feb 14th…and they claim in can take up to 5 weeks to post the scores out (imagine that means from the day they cashed my check)…pretty absurd that the SAT score process will end up taking 2 mos…

ACT is way better since it’s all electronic

Also, I just got the general email from Vandy that either my supplement or application was received and that they’re going to create a file for me, but not the whole your app is complete and ready for review email.

My high school transcript and forms were sent around 3 weeks ago, Instructor Evals about two weeks ago, College Official’s Report/transcript weeks ago, and I had my ACT scores sent priority mail about a month ago.

Crap…I think I know why my app may be incomplete. I didn’t have a transcript sent from where I took dual enrollment classes in high school through a community college. And I think I accidentally sent my non-writing ACT scores. UGHHH

anontransfer,
I sent in a non-writing ACT score, so that shouldn’t be a factor. It is very possible that Vanderbilt has not yet received your ACT score, as it took my score about a month and a half to be received by the school. Bureaucracy at its finest…

My admissions counselor is always out of the office when I try to call. I emailed her today. I just hope she doesn’t get annoyed by me contacting her so much. This is going to be a very long long long 6 weeks.

Ya, apparently Vanderbilt has not received my ACT score nor do they have my college transcript, which is weird since I sent it three weeks ago… On the other hand they have all my non-academic documents. Guess they process academic documents last?

How are all of you receiving email notifications? I haven’t received anything via email.

I have to call Vanderbilt every time I want to check my application status. The people I talked to told me that there was no way for transfers to check my status electronically.

Am I misunderstanding something?

Am I not worthy T_T ? Confused.

Chimikins
You will get an email notification once Vanderbilt receives all your application materials. The email just states that your application file is complete and ready to be reviewed by the admissions committee. Other than that, there is no way of checking your status.

is everyone dealing w/their regional transfer adviser when making inquiries about application material status or calling the school directly? wanna mail off anything that’s still missing since I did submit everything they required a month + ago

Yes, Yolo, you work with the regional Adcom.

When I’ve called admissions they’ve been able to look up my file, but when I inquire about specifics they tell me to contact my regional counselor. Who I can never get ahold of :(

That’s too bad. Mine emailed me back immediately after I asked a question. Mine was there when we visited, but I didn’t want to look like a tool and talk to her about the weather or whatever so she knew me, so I didn’t. That was probably a mistake.

Since I have to go to the area on the weekend of April 19-20, I will stop by and visit Vanderbilt. Too bad the tour on that Saturday is completely full already…we’ll just have to do a self-guided tour! Hopefully it won’t be too late for me to pop my head in to see my advisor and let them put a name/application with a face. I mean, only be like 5-ish days after they start making decisions, and I’m sure I won’t be one of the first with a decision given out…but wouldn’t that suck if I get mine back as a rejection and I’d be up there looking around…it’s like adding insult to injury. Regular decision freshmen will be getting their letters on April 1, so it looks like it’s about that time for all of us.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!

if we have our current mailing address listed as the one for where we go to college is there any way we can change it so the letters are mailed to our home address since i will be out of school when they are mailing? Or do they send the letters to both home and current address?

Spoke to my counselor today, and they are closed today (for whatever reason) and that they will start reviewing our applications next week!!!

It’s probably because they sent out the regular decision letters today. I’m visiting tomorrow and am going to try to talk to my admissions counselor, so hopefully they are open then!

anyone know if the transfer rates are going to stay around 30% this year or if they are going to drop?

I heard they were actually going up…don’t quote me on that, though.

How is everyone handling the wait? I have been doing a lot of reading and taking a lot of leisure strolls to take my mind off it…
