I applied before march 15th, received my “application complete” by april 1st, and I still haven’t heard anything. Im going crazyyyyyyyyyyy. Congrats to everyone who got in

I wrote a Vanderbilt specific essay for my application.

All these acceptances are really discouraging. Just trying to keep praying and hope I get in. Also, all these big schools and high scores don’t help lol.

I wrote a Vandy-specific essay as well.

@transva12 - Incredibly generous, but I have a very high financial need. It seems that they take their meeting 100% of demonstrated need/no-loan policies seriously!

Waiting very unpatiently have a May 15th deposit deadline for Richmond … hope i get a response either way!!!

Yes I actually wrote my main essay tailored towards the school which I was applying to. Every opportunity you get to reference why the university is a best for should be utilized. So those of you lurking the thread and planning to apply might want to consider this advice .

It’s worked well for me thus far!

I still haven’t heard anything either, so I doubt I’ve been accepted. Even if I do get in, im almost certainly going to UVA at this point so maybe one of you can take my spot.

I’m SO nervous about my application. I dropped out of high school my freshman year but I went back, graduated with a 3.4… Applying from a community college. I feel like my essays could have been better. 29 ACT. :|

…but on the same token, I have a 3.94 in college, regional and chapter leadership in PTK, tons of band activities that I plan on continuing, the president of my college wrote me a recommendation, and my essay was Vandy-specific. Soo… ?

Vanderbilt is my first choice. I’m really trying to be cool about this and be like “Ehh… I don’t care what happens.” but inside, I am DYING with anticipation.

Hi everyone…if you know you will not be attending Vanderbilt, please be kind and let them know that. You would be giving another student a great opportunity.

end rant

Accepted today, I live right outside Philadelphia.

I did not write a Vanderbilt specific essay, as I applied to a couple of schools. Also I never turned in a midterm report! Not sure if that is relevant, but thought it was interesting.

Stats
I did terribly in high school
HS GPA: 3.3
SAT: 2020

College (top 50)
GPA: 3.83
Major: Econ

I also have some pretty strong ECs
A few internships and reporter for my current school’s newspaper.

Good luck to everyone who applied!

Waitlised in Georgia! This was exactly what I was hoping for! Why? Because it gives me more time to respond to them if I do get in because I have a lot to consider (as I’m sure all of us do, but my situation is a little different)…
You can read my earlier posts about all of this, but I’m currently a 2nd-Year student at UGA, am 19-years-old, am married, and have an-almost-2-year-old daughter. I am looking to transfer because of the great opportunities that Vanderbilt (specifically Peabody) can offer (for Education).
So, I can’t transfer until my wife DEFINITELY has a job relatively nearby Nashville (because we need the financial support, of course!).
If I have to stay at UGA, that’ll be just fine for us because when I applied MONTHS and MONTHS ago, our situation was much different. Now, my wife has been admitted to UGA’s COE Grad School for a very competitive program and we have so much that’s been growing for us right here in Athens (and UGA is ranked very high in Education, as well)!
So, honestly, it looks like we’re going to stay right here, but we’ll see what comes of everything!

Good luck to everyone!!

dhkeim93, HOW did you get waitlisted?! I thought you’d get in for sure.

So are we to assume that they are sending out acceptances/rejections on days other than friday if some of the letters were postmarked monday?

I also have been looking at this thread for quite some time, and am hopelessly awaiting any sort of decision! I’ve been a little discouraged that i haven’t heard yet as well. Got my app complete e-mail on April 1

@hope4vandy That’s what it would seem like with this wave of acceptances but I called Monday and was told that they send them out Friday for certain… Blame the post office? :S I don’t know.

Did anyone on this thread taken an average high school work load? I took all honors classes but no AP/IB. I know that was years ago but I can’t help but think that will hurt me.

I feel like I’m the minority on this one.

I was accepted but applied to multiple schools and didn’t write a Vandy-specific essay. So it’s definitely possible!

Anontransfer93, Yeah, I know. Thanks for the kind words, but like I said, THIS is what’s BEST for my family lol

Just FYI: plain white envelope that looks like it’s a rejection can actually be a wait list decision
I wrote a non-Vandy specific essay that got straight to the point (not my best essay by a long shot!) even though Vandy is all that I applied to (didn’t know it’d be best to do it). Wait list is definitely possible for those that think they are definitely getting rejected (look at my earlier posts to see my stats…if you want, that is).

Once again, good luck to all! :)

anontransfer: My freshman year of high school was all regular classes. Sophomore year all regular except honors math and history, junior year APUSH and honors Math, and senior year all honors and AP Econ and AB Calc. Altogether 4 AP tests. Definitely not the hardest workload possible, considering my school offered a lot of AP’s that I was too careless/clueless to take advantage of at the time. Really it’s the reason I’m at a top 60 school instead of a top 25 school at the moment. That’s the last thing I would worry about though. College work is more difficult than AP and if you succeed in college then I don’t think it would matter what courses you took in high school.

Hey guys, congratulations to everyone that got in so far and best of luck to all of you still waiting to here.

I was accepted today, but ultimately whether or not I go to vanderbilt is contingent upon the financial aid package that they give me. Does anyone know when we would here back from the financial aid office after receiving an acceptance? Also, do you think Vandy financial aid is generous enough to match around our EFC? One problem with my current university is that I’m paying close to double my EFC and it has only worsened the financial burden on my family…any thoughts on the financial aid?
