for those scared about them being need aware, dont be!! They are covering EVERYTHING for me because I am from a very low income single parent family. I would say my stats were pretty average too, nothing crazy! 4.0 at current small private college, run collegiate cross country and track (but not going to run at vandy), and valedictorian/31 on act in high school. so not too shabby but not crazy like some people with their 2400 SATs and 4.0s at Harvard. so have hope for those still waiting!! also, I’m so torn with whether to go to vandy or not, its killing me! Im scared to leave now, and I am going to miss my track team sooo much!! so if I decide to not go, one more spot and more financial aid will be opened up!

I’m just worried that some people who have been accepted are going to attend Vandy just for kicks, even if their heart really isn’t in it. I could only hope that if I were accepted that everyone else loves Vandy as much as I do.

They sent me an email saying my application was completed on March 5th, but I still have not yet heard anything. Really frustrated now!

@shawshank - no word in Cali - don’t have any idea what to expect.

I called last week and they hadn’t looked at my application yet. /:

I got waitlisted today! I’m really happy, I saw the little envelope and thought for sure it was a rejection.

They said spending spring grades would help my chances. I only had two classes and got an A and a B, do you think that would help or hurt my chances (GPA at transfer was a 3.83)

Wait @keignat: Why are you only taking two classes?

I can’t believe those who received their complete emails almost a month before me haven’t heard back yet.

At this point I’m not certain I will attend but I still want to see what type of aid they will be offering. The deadline is coming up so I’m not sure if I will receive a package by then.

Do you guys think it would be proper to ask for an extension if the package doesn’t arrive by the reply deadline?

I’ve already completed 60 credits so I decided not to take a full course load

Need some opinions…so I’ve never visited Vandy, am currently going to school in Charleston, SC – which I absolutely adore. I love the warmth southerners exude, the laid back vibe, and the excellent weather. I’m from the NE originally and have gotten into Cornell & G-town as well. My parents are predictably most excited about Cornell…however 2 years in Ithaca seems bleak. As an experience I think Vandy wins hands down given my options…5k better with aid/yr, having multiple good athletic teams to cheer for in a strong sports conference, and everything I’ve heard about Nashville paints it to be an excellent up and coming city.

I’m torn between the old guard NE prestige driven perspective and the one I’ve come to develop in my time down south, that Vandy has always been excellent regionally and appears intent in the near future of putting itself alongside places like Northwestern and the ‘lesser ivies’ in terms of a national reputation for academics.

My interests veer towards international health policy and that is why Georgetown is still in the equation. I should also add that I am now classified as a SC resident and intend to pursue medicine in the SE when my undergraduate time is up. Safe to assume the Vandy name will be viewed at a level below only the HYP of the world if pursuing a career in the SE? Thank you for opinions, leaning Vandy, probably just seeking reassurance, and just want to make sure passing up the ‘ivy’ label or Georgetown for that matter is a sound choice!

^^^ Still waiting in the wild west as well. Yolo, hard to advise you since you haven’t visited, but you’re already going to school in the south, so you know the vibe. All of your schools are excellent, so this is going to be a situation where you go with your gut I think.

hey guys. I just emailed my counselor and she said my application was still under review. I turned in my application 3 hours before the deadline and it was complete on April 1st. Since Vandy is rolling based so I guess we are just in the last batch~ Good luck guys!

I emailed my counselor and found out that they still have not completed reviewing my app… a little bit disappointed. Now we are all in the last batch. Anyways good luck everyone!!! Hope the timing does not affect our decisions

I got my app complete e-mail on April 1st, and I e-mailed my counselor today, and he said mine was set to be sent out today.

I called today and they told me mine has not been given a decision yet. Do you guys think I should send a letter of continued interest, even though they haven’t decided yet? Would it hurt? Look too desperate? Show initiative?

Oh, and I got my app complete on April 1st.

Well, I guess I won’t bug my Dad about the mail today then.

So, can anyone enlighten me on Vandy’s aid process? I’m still waiting on my aid award, but to be quite frank I’m not expecting much since my EFC was pretty high… Will Vandy give me loans or something else?

Vanderbilt does not give loans. If you have to have loans, they do tell you that you can go the federal route, but their policy is to give you so much, if you need it, that additional loans are not required. That happened to me. Their grant was an unexpected and jaw-dropping sum of money.

Maybe some of us will hear back tomorrow… But maybe not… Who knows?

^ hey, congrats, Shaw: 100 posts!
