Official Vanderbilt University Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

@CaptTShannan‌ i totally understand, i had to do the same. but no! don’t be negative, you have great stats and a lot of other things that can help you! stay optimistic!

CaptTShannan, I’m sorry to hear of your inexcusable treatment. Do you really want to attend a school that is so disorganized and poorly run? You did everything you could do, and more. Vanderbilt would be lucky to have a student like you who is proactive, responsible, and crosses their T’s and dots their I’s. Obviously they don’t. Doesn’t make a prospective student or parent think too highly of their institution…

@pilgrim6‌ yes, I still want to go to Vandy. It’s my dream school. The main fault is on my current school for being so unorganized.

Well, I fault Vandy too for saying your application was complete (multiple times) when it wasn’t. But best of luck to you. I sincerely hope it all works out.

@pilgrim6‌ I guess part of it was their fault, but I’m guessing they just looked at MyAppVU online when I asked instead of checking the actual application file.

Did you guys attach the common app final report sheet to your high school transcript or did you just send the transcript by itself?

@rdlp123‌ Aren’t you supposed to do both?

@CaptTShannan‌ It sucks what happened to you with your admissions however now it makes me nervous as I submitted two recommendations one from an advisor and one from an instructor. The instructor was having problems with the CommonApp and had other urgent issues to take care of, she ended up submitting her recommendation on around 4PM on the 15th of March, she emailed me with the conformation so I could send out all of the applications. I checked with Vanderbilt and they said that they got the recommendation, after what happened with you I just hope they meant both recommendations were received and not just the one from my advisor.

I just naturally have bad luck, so I’m sure you guys are going to be okay

@CaptTShannan while it really does suck that all that happened, I don’t think it reflects on your admissions chances. If anything, it might be good news for you. Sounds like there was a lot of miscommunication, but the only reason you got that email is because somebody somewhere was reviewing your application. Which probably means that your decision will come with the next wave, or the one after that. I know it really isn’t an excuse, but the office of admissions is really busy at this time of year, and sometimes things fall through the cracks. Don’t lose hope!

@jfcampos‌ I know it’s just a mistake and it probably doesn’t happen that often. It’s no one’s fault but the universe’s haha. Hopefully we’ll all hear soon!

Prospective transfers: don’t lose hope. This process goes on for a long time. My son got his acceptance in Mid-May last year. If you look at the number of views on this thread, you’ll realize that many applicants are lurking, so there are more people in the hunt with you than seems immediately apparent. That being said, think carefully about other offers you get, and ask questions at all schools about how well transfers assimilate into the student body post-transfer, as well as what kinds of comprehensive transfer programs there are. You can even search last year’s threads at all colleges and see if you can message them (transfer students) and see if they’ll tell you about their personal experience. Highly recommend this.

hoping for tomorrow!

myappvu isn’t working! So stressful

myappvu isn’t working for me as well. hopefully they are updating the system with decisions

@transfergirl818‌ I was thinking the same thing!

It’s working for me :frowning: . Maybe I’ll be waiting another week…

Mine started up again but no decision

@TransferGirlSoph‌ now mine is working again too. what time on the fridays were people able to access their decisions? was the email on friday and they could see it friday or was the email on friday and they could access their decision on saturday?

Hey all-

I submitted all aspects of the application besides the Registrar Report to Vanderbilt on March 15th. Unfortunately my school, UC Davis, took FOREVER to process and send my registrar report and my application finally came up as complete on April 24. Will my decision be delayed to the end of the pile and did I lose priority-status? If yes, does that affect my chances of admission?
