Official Vanderbilt University Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

@cassifields So sorry for you man, See if you can defer your admission for Spring and try looking for some scholarships in the meantime <a href=“Search for Scholarships – BigFuture | College Board”>Search for Scholarships – BigFuture | College Board;

@cassifields‌ From what I understand, Vandy is pretty understanding on issues like this. I would contact their financial aid office and explain how much you really want to go there. Maybe they can try to work something out for you. Hope this helps and good luck.

Guys, I need an opinion on something. So my GPA on the Common App was 3.6 but this semester or at least what went into the Midterm Report, the GPA was 3.3 ish. I send along with the report, a letter explaining that the B+/B’s only reflect one or two things, and I am making steps to boost my grades up. Do you think they will look into it?

@cassifields Email the financial aid office. They’ll give you 2 forms to fill out: one to request a reconsideration for your FA award, and one for your parents to prove if their income or taxes this year will be significantly different from last year. You’ll then need to have your parents provide documentation for the FA office to reconsider.

I did just that and I got around $7000 more in FA, and my parents’ change wasn’t drastic, but it was noticeable. Now I think I stand a chance of actually affording it.

@fall2014transfer‌ Why are you transferring from Kelley? I was under the impression that it was an excellent business school

Do transfers usually have to retake the first-year writing class? I’m trying to brainstorm my schedule, but I am still awaiting a response from them regarding transfer credit.

@letters95‌ from what I’ve read, you just have to take a writing course in your first four semesters, and another in your second four semesters. But I could be wrong.

@‌letters95

I think it will.

<a href=“Transfer FAQ: Will my credits transfer? | The Vandy Admissions Blog | Vanderbilt University”>http://admissions.vanderbilt.edu/vandybloggers/2011/05/transfer-faq-will-my-credits-transfer/</a></p>

@letters95 - my son’s writing credits transferred as credits, but he was still required to fulfill Vandy’s writing requirement. “Writing” apparently isn’t equal at all universities.

@HopefulScholar64‌ Kelley is an amazing school, and I’m happy with the academic program. I just am not too fond of IU overall and think that I would be happier at a smaller school.

Just out of curiosity, how many letters of recommendation did you guys have?

@rdlp123 I had 3. Two from college professors and one from a high school teacher.

So I found out today that after calling the admissions office three times and emailing my admissions rep four times that a part of my application was not complete, yet MyAppVU insisted that it was.

@rdlp123‌ I had four.

@CaptTShannan which part was incomplete?

My school didn’t answer two questions on the registrar’s report for some odd reason. And I was worried about it and called them right after it was submitted, and they told me that everything was fine. Twice. @jfcampos‌

@CaptTShannan Did admissions say that this would’ve stopped your application from going through/would they have told you about it eventually?

@jfcampos‌ my admissions counselor emailed me this morning and told me that it was missing. I asked him if it would effect my decision and he told me that it wouldn’t make that big of a difference as long as I got it in soon. So I had it sent via email to him today, and he just told me that it was completed.

That sucks @CaptTShannan‌. The whole college admissions process would be much smoother if you could just do everything yourself. It’s always rec letters and forms from school officials that wind up missing.

@CaptTShannan‌ that’s exactly what happened to me and i got it to them within an hour. this happened 3 wednesdays ago and i still have not heard from them.

@TransferGirlSoph‌ my school has multiple offices that the registrar’s report has to be filled out off, and apparently, one of the offices is under new supervision and there was some miscommunication about who filled out what on the CommonApp. I got the email around 10, woke up at noon, called the registrar’s office who referred me to the office of student conduct around 12:20 where the supervisor was at lunch, and she finally called me back at 2:00. THEN, she spent the better part of 45 minutes telling me why it wasn’t her fault, etc. and finally sent it to my admissions representative around 3 via email.

I’m just really sour about the whole situation because I had called the Office of Undergraduate Admissions like a week after my CommonApp was submitted and asked them to check to see if my Registrar’s Report was filled out correctly because of all the different offices that had to sign part of it, check a box on it, or write a number on it, and they told me they would leave a note for my admissions counselor to check. The next day, MyAppVU told me my application was complete so I figured everything must have been filled out correctly. Nonetheless, I sent my admissions officer an email and told him to let me know if something was wrong with it. He never did. Two weeks ago, I called admissions and asked them to check if there was something wrong with my application but the woman didn’t seem to know what she was doing. And last week I did they same thing and they told me my application was fine. So I was just really upset when I got the email this morning.

I’m absolutely sure I’m not going to get accepted now. :/
