@CaptTShannan last year my friend emailed his counselor, simply telling her how much Vandy meant to him and politely asking her to fight for him when making decisions. He got a nice reply saying, “I will indeed!” Then he got all excited.

His stats weren’t very special, and his test scores were in the 25th percentile, but he ended up getting waitlisted. I don’t know what happened, but I’d speculate his request helped him get not rejected.

@CaptTShannan @Juvenis I’ve interacted quite a bit with my admissions counselor by email, but generally just on questions about submitting things since I am currently abroad. Other EC’s include some high school clubs (theater and such), and quite a bit of volunteer work. I’ve been heavily involved in volunteering since I started high school. I finished high school with a 3.8something unweighted I think. My current GPA is like a 3.3 (super awful a haha) I think. Chemistry killed me last semester, and after switching majors I found out that the chemistry I was in was way above what was required, but it was too late to drop, so that sucked. My ACT was a 32, and I don’t remember SAT. I did end up visiting Vanderbilt fall of my senior year (I have family out there so I went to visit them and took the opportunity to see Vandy). I don’t know how much the visit and talking with my counselor helped, but my stats are seriously average so I guess it must have done something to end up on the wait list. I’m nervous that my lower GPA last semester and the fact that the only other EC I added to volunteering is study abroad might hurt my chances, but I figure I’ll never get in if I don’t try!

I have corresponded quite a bit with my admission counselor, and he is very polite. He also responds to my inquiries very prompt (within a day or two). I would say that over the course of the application process this season, I have had 5-6 concrete, productive email conversations. I have attached supplemental documents, updated him on a few things, etc.

While I don’t know my chances of getting admitted, I do praise my admission counselor for being so helpful.

Because I would think that they’re not AS busy as they were during the period of regular decision (RD) applications, my best advice would be to shoot your admission counselor a nice email or even give him/her a quick call to affirm your interest in Vanderbilt (something specific would be even more of a hook), to ask a question, etc.

I will, however, admit that while they’re there to assist you in the process and usually try to advocate for your as an applicant, I wouldn’t just email or call without anything of substance.

Again, good luck to all

IDK, I just filled out the general “why transfer” question because it was all I asked for. My application is a mixture of strong points (GPA, LoRs, life story), “decent” points (ECs) and weak points (SAT, High school, pre-reqs), so it’s hard to know my chances

Is there any other way I could show interest now this late in the cycle? Vandy IS my top choice. :)

@Prospects80 email your admissions rep. It should help
Also, what are you stats?

Only like 2 weeks left until decisions!

It’s going to be the longest two weeks ever. @Juvenis

@CaptTShannan @Juvenis I hope I’m not the only one who has already started obsessively checking MyAppVU…

@Juvenis realized just now that I never answered your question…ahah I’m in Portugal.

Lol that’s okay.

@CaptTShannan idk I’m not even thinking about it. I’m so distracted by school.

@jfcampos that’s awesome! How is it? Are you in Lisbon?

@Juvenis I’m in Porto! In the north. It’s amazing. An absolutely amazing experience. If you ever get a chance to study abroad anywhere…take it!

Hello guys, I applied to Vanderbilt too. Do you guys know if they are going to post the decision online?

GUYS! I just received an email saying I can view my decision tomorrow!

@galapin26 yes, they’re going to post it in your myappvu account

@macarons seriously?? I’m so jealous! When did you get your application in?

Thank you! @macarons Isn’t too early for decisions? Good luck!

@Celtic02 @galapin26

I know, I was so surprised! I hope it’s not a glitch or something. And I submitted it Feb 1.

Okay I’m clearly late to this chat but I couldn’t help posting when I saw how excited everyone is! I’m waiting to hear back as well and I’m transferring from Northeastern in Boston as a Political Science major. Good luck to everyone!!

That’s probably why! you submitted it really early. I’m sure you are going to get accepted
