Good luck, everyone! I just began final edits for my ED2 YourSpace submission. I can’t believe I’d be less than a week from knowing if I’d found Vassar sooner.
43% of 587 EDs were admitted last year. There’s no breakdown of male/female ED applicants, as far as I’ve seen. Also, the 587 number is listed as “early decision”, so I assume it includes both rounds.
From 2009 to 2016, the number of men applicants ranged from 2112 to 2518. Women applying numbered from 5172 to 5467 in that same period. Vassar admits roughly 2000 applicants in order to fill its freshman class of ~660. During that period, Vassar admitted ~1000 women and ~800 men annually, however those numbers flip-flopped last year, when 1169 men were admitted, and just 795 women. Male admissions soared to 55%, more than 20% above recent norm. Only 15.4% of women were offered admission, which was a reduction of ~4%.
The male Vassar population aren’t slouches when compared to Vassar women, despite what might seem on the surface as preferential treatment by the admissions office. Most years, the men have had slightly higher standardized test scores.
To be honest, I’d hoped to find that as a male I had an advantage, but it seems Vassar just has a deep pool of talented applicants.
Ah!! Can’t wait for the decision to come out! So anxious and really unsure if I’ll get in :// My scores aren’t in the top 50% and the only extra thing I have is athletics
IMHO, being an international makes it even harder to get accepted, especially at a selective school like Vassar where they get a ton of applications from International students. Doing ED might help you boost your chances though.
From what I’ve heard, the competition’s pretty intense for Indian students since a lot of them are pretty smart. You must have some awesome stats yourself @faraar
But then again, stats aren’t the only factor taken in consideration.
College admissions is a mystery itself.
