18, wow! I thought 11 was bad! Good luck to your son.

We just got our first FA letter, from the University of Rochester. Ha ha ha! Scratch that one off the list. I’m afraid Wash U will be no better. I’m another one of those clueless parents who has been in denial, I’m afraid.

Maine did I see that your son went to the UMiami scholarship day?
Only 10 applications here. Maybe that was a mistake? Just about now, I wish there were more chances ahead.
5 more days to wait for Wash U.
Hoping . . .

Wow, this is interesting. My son’s high school limits students to 10 applications unless they get special permission (they are very hands-on with guiding the students through the process). I was grateful for this limit, because there is no way he would have had time to write any more essays. As it was, he was really struggling to get through his coursework, marching band season and all those applications. Good for you guys for having the time and energy! I would have lost my MIND…

Anyways, my school only allows 10 apps and I submitted 9. WashU was technically a “fit” according to the naviance connection data of the past 5 graduating classes in my school.

FL rep. My D applied to 19 colleges, only 2 safeties and 2 matches, the rest all reaches hahahaha. Her top choice is MIT…got deferred
WASHU is high on her list. Good luck to all!!!

I believe that those who are determined to aim as high as they can deserve props for challenging themselves. Good luck to us all this coming week.

Oooh, out of curiosity, I called admissions yesterday and asked when they’re releasing decisions. They were strict and said “by April 1st.” I even brought up the “Hey, my uppperclassmen learned their decisions around this date in previous years” thing and they were still saying it’s around April 1st. Hope that’s not a bad thing. :S It’s probably them being quiet about their stuff. ;)

I think it’s fair to assume that WashU will want to release decisions well before most other schools. They gain a competitive advantage when they offer deadlines 15 days later are release decisions 15+ days earlier. I doubt decisions will be released any later than 3/15. WashU wants a lot of lead time over other colleges.

Dang everyone here has certainly applied to a lot of schools and the work required for that merits commendation. I only applied to 8 schools but all of them are reaches except for USC Columbia which was my safety. Haha but yeah I’m repping SC here. Here’s a toast to good news for everyone :D

Yes, this will allow them more time to send fun stuff and letters to their admits, etc. which will (probably) make them love WashU more than they already did, leading to a higher yield.
