Official Waiting Room

Ya, jackdaniels, I wouldn’t read too much into it. I’m sure they have a standard answer that they use that’s intentionally ambiguous. Good luck. Hopefully tomorrow!

Thanks jackdaniels. the waiting seems to drive everyone crazy :)

LOL I bet that was my girl Delise. She’s the most amazing person ever!!!

And no, that doesn’t mean you got in. She pulled up your admission file but she can’t check decisions, and even if she could she always uses “if” and other qualified statements.

I know it sounds crazy but seriously stop stressing it. Soon you’ll be in WashU (or elsewhere) and have the matriculation packet - then you’ll be rockin’ the WUStL shirt for the rest of senior year.

Also on need blind, WashU IS need blind for the approximately the first 85% of admits. Even after that if they need more funding for a particular student that doesn’t mean they will reject them they can gain more funding from the Uni by petitioning.

Our endowment will find funding for you’s guys. :)

I think what makes it particularly ‘annoying’ is that fact that you never know WHEN the decisions will be posted. It can be tomorrow, or wednesday…thursday… It’s like walking on a minefield :(

Rejection’s gonna hurt, lol. They’ve sent me soo much mail and treated me to a free meal card on my visit. I got emotionally attached. I initially applied to WUSTL because my parents wanted me to. I didn’t actually want to go, since i live in state and I’d like to leave for college. However, WUSTL’s campus, amazing academics, and career opportunities convinced me otherwise.

AHHH, I’ve gotten in too deep =/

hey Charlieharper…by chance, was U Mich your safety?

I love how these threads just blow up when decisions are released. It’s so soon, and looking at the decision online is so instant, just a click away.

@Quin:

yep, it’s amazing how your life’s work culminates in a single click.

@Jamie: I applied to UMich EA, and I didn’t think of it as a safety at all. I guess what I wanted to do was apply somewhere early and get in, just in case all my RD colleges screwed me over. I liked UMich and was even unsure about whether or not I would get accepted. Thankfully I got in!

@charlieharper… wow, that’s marvelous! well I was just curious as I saw your list of RD colleges, and the lowest ranked school you applied to was UMich. Good luck to you, especially for Dartmouth since it was top priority and I got rejected ED but hey, it’s still a fantastic institution.

dude, that really blows! i can’t wait for this all to be over…I’m supposed to be concentrating on two papers and two tests i have this week but the WUSTL stress is killing me lol

Last week I had so much work it was unbearable, one of the worst in a while. This week is way lighter…good thing or bad thing? Haha, well at least I’m going to a concert on Wednesday to cheer me up/celebrate.

I don’t think I’ll get accepted, but I can’t help but think of how unfathomably amazing it would be to get in, and then have spring of senior year to look forward to. Ugh, oh goodness.

Yep me too…I need to write essays and prepare for tests but…WUSTL dominates my brain!

@Quirindongo: I don’t think I’ll get accepted either, but yes the idea of “If I get in” drives us nuts.

For some reason I’m not worried or nervous whatsoever. 55% of the people who applied from my school in the past four years have gotten accepted and only two have been rejected (they had below 4.0 weighted GPAs), so I’m hoping I’ll get waitlisted at least. As well, I already got full tuition at a great university so any rejection won’t phase me that badly (or, at least, I hope it won’t). Good luck to all…

My sister got into Wash U. 2 years ago; my parents worked with the financial aid committee- and they were extremely helpful with offering my sister aid- she did not get full tuition, but close to. Once she was accepted, and my parents demonstrated a need; WUSTL did a great job with providing the best package possible and helping her pay for it. I would just say, be sure you contact the financial aid people once you receive a decision, and be sure to show tremendous interest and high hopes to attend. They will hopefully reciprocate your effort with aid.

Hope that helps!

Wow, you must either go to a really good school or not have a lot of people apply. I have no idea about college stats at my school… but since we’re in state, I know a lot of people do apply to WASHU

in the past 2 years, 4/12 people from my school have gotten in.

This year, however, 16 people including me applied. ■■■. lol. 1 has already gotten admission due to ED, and another got a likely letter in the form of a scholarship opportunity.

@aznjunior: I don’t know whether or not we’re regarded as a good school (we are by the US News, for what it is worth), but our admissions stats are all over the place. Something close to 80% of the people who applied to UChicago in previous years either got waitlisted or accepted, almost everyone gets into BU/NYU/UMich, a lot get accepted to Wash U (I don’t feel like recounting but I think it was exactly 40 people that applied and 22 got admitted, 2 rejected, 16 waitlisted), 40% get into Duke and Penn, 20% get accepted to Harvard, but only 4% get into Yale, Dartmouth, Brown, and Princeton (of course, these are %'s of those who apply, who are usually at the top of our class).

I’m on the west coast (los angeles) and it seems Wash U is a lot less known here than on the east coast. I only know of one kid who applied last year; he got accepted. Only three applied this year (out of a class of 730).

Interesting stats. I go to an international school in Chile, and according to naviance not many ppl applied to WUSTL. We had 8 ppl who applied in the past, 3 accepted, 2 denied, 3 waitlisted… This year there’s only 2 ppl (including me) who’s applying.

Another interesting fact I discovered during applying to colleges is that WUSTL is definitely not well known internationally (even domestically, I believe?). Perhaps it needs more marketing? :)

About 15 people applied to Wash U as compared to 31 to Northwestern. My HS is in the suburbs of Chicago. Usually about 35-40% of students that apply get admitted to both. Already rejected from Notre Dame so hoping for the best.
