Lol, likely is as good as confirmed.
But okay, I get your point.

Which country are you from? I see that you are an international applicant.
Brown and uchicago? Wow, that’s a different choice. There could not be two bigger polar opposites…

They aren’t different poles, but I prefer Brown because:
Chic is stingy, Brown is not (International; need full aid).
Better Political Science and Government program of Brown. Chic not that well ranked in this department. Though I am not fantasized by the Ivy tag, but at the end of the day it matters.
I know I won’t get in Chic anyways with that finaid requirement.

Anyways my Chic essays were pathetic. I have no idea how I even got waitlisted. Seems like in numerous students have been waitlisted. I myself know more than ten students. Ten!

I’m just finishing up my letter of interest. I’m sure you’re fine. They probably expect it to take a little while for people to gather their thoughts/hear from other colleges.

Is U of C need blind with the wait list? Does anybody know how their FA compares to regular admission? If accepted from the wait list, do they tell you the FA before you have to make the final decision?

I was expecting either a waitlist or an acceptance, though I foolishly believed an acceptance would be more likely. I regret not applying early.

I had average SATs (average relative to the caliber of Ivies and UChicago applicant pool) but near-perfect GPA, a few activities but not too many years doing them. That could be it. I think I mainly got in on my essays though…

Definitely staying on the waitlist. UChicago’s my first choice.

Got into UC Berkeley, NYU, still waiting on most of the Ivies I applied to.

Yes on FA; I’m pretty sure my EFC was around $20k.

Aughhh I just hope UChicago’s yield rate stays low and that they take a bunch of people from their waitlist! Any chances that they’ll do that this year?

Were you expecting a rejection or an acceptance?
Rejection

Give a reason why you think you were waitlisted?
Half-assed my essays on the nights before they were due, and I know UChicago is all about their essays.

Planning to stay “officially” on the waitlist?
Eh I put myself on it out of curiosity. But I’d rather not SIR and be totally set on one place to have to move everything to another. UChicago wasn’t one of my top choices anyways.

Which other colleges have you been already accepted to/ got likely?
Bunch of CSUs. UCR, UCSD, UCLA, UCB. I’ll probably go to Berkeley.

Applied for FA? If yes, what’s your EFC?
Sure thing and 00000000.

Were you expecting a rejection or an acceptance?
Acceptance

Give a reason why you think you were waitlisted?
Maybe my essay - who knows?

Planning to stay “officially” on the waitlist?
I was…but not anymore.

Which other colleges have you been already accepted to/ got likely?
Harvard, Columbia, Penn. I’m going to Cambridge.

Applied for FA? If yes, what’s your EFC?
Need a lot of aid.

Hey you all…I know some of you had uchi at your top choice and i just want to say dont give up…in the accepted group there are number of people who will probably end up not attending. So there is good enough of a chance for everyone.

Were you expecting a rejection or an acceptance?
I was expecting an acceptance! Last year two way more underqualified students from my school were admitted and chose to go elsewhere (one who was even getting a 14% in french IV, and had very few extra curriculars)

Give a reason why you think you were waitlisted?
Didn’t put a lot of work into my essays. Didn’t answer the optional ones.

Planning to stay “officially” on the waitlist?
I put myself on it but I doubt I will get off of it, I’m not going to the trouble of a likely letter or anything

Which other colleges have you been already accepted to/ got likely?
USC, UW Madison, Boston College, Georgetown, USD, Pepperdine
Waitlisted at UPenn also

Applied for FA? If yes, what’s your EFC?
Yeah but it’s probably like 54000. unlikely i’m getting financial aid anywhere

When I saw I was waitlisted, I was very very frustrated and chose to remain on the waitlist without really looking. I still wish to remain on the waitlist but I’m not sure if I clicked on the right button (yeah dumb, right). If I have an option to upload “post-decision materials” does that mean I chose to remain on the waitlist? I already emailed office of admissions.

besides updates on NEW awards, accomplishments, EC’s, upward trend of near-end-of-school-year grades, what else can i add to my letter of interest?

Hey guys, I am waitlisted at UChicago and I accepted my place on the waiting list via my UChicago account nearly two weeks ago. But, I haven’t yet recevied any sort of confirmation regarding my placement on the waitlist. My UChicago account shows that green mark beside the ‘Reply to Wait-list’ caption but I am not yet sure whether I’m placed on the wait or not. Have any of you recieved any kind confirmation regarding your placement on the waiting list?

@masterclass You can email the admissions office with your application number and they will tell you if you are indeed on the waiting list or not. I didn’t receive any other kind of confirmation other than the green check mark and “post-decision materials” drop-down box.
