UChicago waitlist is MOST definitely active (According to the official UChicago class of 2015 Facebook page), but the good news has been only for the domestic students so far. Any updates on the international students front? Has any international student been taken off the wait-list yet?

Some question here.

I recently was pulled off the waitlist at UChicago! I am an international student (Middle East). I first received an email from the admissions tutor from my region asking whether I would attend UChicago if any spaces opened on the list, to which I responded I would. Within 24 hours, I logged on to my UChicago Account to find that I was accepted
Good luck to everyone still waiting ;)

damn it. does that mean they stopped looking at domestic students?

^ Pretty sure waitlist acceptances are mostly up to the regional officer, so no.

woooooooo. its nice to still have hope

Congrats Ivyguy93, you’re one of those rare lucky international chaps to get off the waitlist at UChicago. Your blog is pretty cool, btw. Any news on the wait-list at the Ivy’s (Cornell and Upenn)?

the news of waitlist acceptances is really making me nervous and excited at the same time, especially how they call you and ask that they would offer you an acceptance to UC if would be willing to attend…

I have sent in my letter of intent to GWU and I have a financial problem and I have received 37.8k FA from GWU, but i would like advice from CCers on what to say if I get a call from them.

Please help :(

ivyguy93

Congrats!

@RZHUUU: provided Chicago is your #1 choice, you can tell them, yes, you would attend if it was financially feasible to do so.

Guys, any updates on the UChicago waitlist? This wait is literally killing me!

I think the first wave of acceptances ended a couple of days ago and right now we’re going through the lull before the next one (hopefully there will be a next one!). I expect that after that acceptances will be trickling in one by one or in small batches until the waitlist is exhausted toward the end of June.

This prophecy was brought to you by my crystal ball.

My crystal ball concurs.

Blah.

hope they are still accepting student on wait list.
I think they are still reviewing the list cuz some applicants were accepted not long ago.

Hey guys!

Did anyone here from SoCal get off the WL?

My AO completely stopped replying to my emails, and I’m prety sure I didn’t overdo it. Looks like it’s over for me.

Urghhhh… Now that I think about it, may it be that they’ve already accepted all the people they plan to accept, barring emergency waitlist swaps? I mean, there were a dozen people taken off the waitlist on CC alone. Which would imply that the total number of acceptances so far is quite high…

I wish someone would put up a blog post about the waitlist on the Uncommon Blog or something, to let us know where we stand. This uncertainty is worse than rejection, imo. I mean, I absolutely love Reed and know that whatever happens here I will be going to a great school in the fall, but the very nature of the waitlist as a tool in admissions predisposes the candidate to stressing and obsessing over the outcome.

krzyglue, maybe your regional officer simply hasn’t gotten to your email yet. When did you send it?

I agree with everything you said.

Thursday evening, so plenty of time.

^me too. What was your last email about?

Also, doesn’t Chicago have an extended summer waitlist?

Was just confirming that they received my updated report card, additional rec, etc. Nothing too fancy.
