[] Weaknesses: Recommendations, no perfect scores? Didn’t show ANY interest in WashU. They’re huge on that and I lacked it.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: No interest in WashU. Future applicants, if you want to get in, bombard the hell out of them with interest! I wasn’t keen on the school and I think they could tell.
[/ul]General Comments: My first waitlist (accepted to Vanderbilt w/ full tuition, likelies at Duke and Dartmouth), so it was a bit disappointing! Congratulations to all who got in - one of my friends did, and I’m absolutely thrilled for him! It’s a great school and y’all are very lucky to have been accepted!

Strengths: grades, test scores, leadership in extracurriculars, research experience, decent award (top 150 chem olympiad)
Weaknesses: no major IMO level awards, no real demonstrated interest in WashU

Reflection:
I got in caltech EA and am a uc berkeley regents nominee (top 1% of applicants), so I’m surprised I got waitlisted but not at all perturbed.
I would like to think WashU waitlists overqualified candidates and that I’m one of those candidates :stuck_out_tongue:
If this is true, then their strategy works marvelously, as it is very unlikely I would have attended if accepted.
I should have applied for their merit scholarships though, I didn’t have time to look at them until the deadlines had passed… not applying for those probably tipped them off that I was applying at the last minute, because there were no extra essays, and its a good school, and why not throw in the app along with 15 others…
But w/e, WashU is a competitive school, it is possible they simply had better applicants (esp those with more demonstrated interest in WashU), and that my ego doesn’t want to admit it :P

I am looking at the stats of the rejected / waitlisted…absolutely makes no sense…congratulations and good luck to everyone who was accpeted…
