[ /list][ b]Reflection[ /b][ list]
[ *] Strengths: SAT score definitely helped, and my work with best buddies was like the highlight of my application so i think they must have liked that…
[ *] Weaknesses:GPA
[ *] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:I think my GPA and my SAT are a really weird combination especially since my score was one sitting…so it may have gotten me caught in the middle. Also my essay was really good IMO (but then again, arent everyones?)
[ /list][ b]General Comments:[ /b] I was fully expecting to be denied especially after my best friend who has a way higher GPA and a good SAT score was denied. However, I was so excited to see waitlisted. But then I realized we could hear back as late as June 30…soooo…that sucks. But anyways Im really excited!! Good luck to everyone and to everyone who was denied, i was denied ED at duke so i Know the feeling, so I think thats why I was so excited to be waitlisted even though I wasnt accepted, just because it meant I had a chance somewhere. Now I couldnt care less about Duke! Good Luck to eveyrone regardless of decisions!!!

General Comments: A little bit disappointed but I look forward hearing good news from other schools! And Congratulations for those who got accepted!

The waitlist/rejected stats make no sense…
My friend gave me her theory that washU waitlisted so many qualified kids because
they feared that their matriculation rate (and thus rank) would drop if they admitted
over-qualified kids who would probably ditch them for better schools and lower their
matriculation rate.

[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): If research is a hook, then yes, if not, then no.
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Test scores, awards, extracurriculars, essays
[] Weaknesses: GPA could have been higher considering strong applicant pool
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think it’s because I worked hard throughout high school and really pursued the things that meant a lot to me. Who knows! I’m really happy though; this is my first acceptance. I’m loving WashU even though I haven’t visited, and I can’t wait for Finalist Weekend. They seem to really care about their students, which feels wonderful as a prospective student. I used to think “fit” didn’t really matter, but I feel like it’s a really good fit for me now. :)

Also, I’m not sure how much demonstrated interest matters because I didn’t visit the campus or get an interview or anything - but I did apply for the University Scholars Program in Medicine and the Summer Scholars Program in addition to a scholarship.
[/ul]General Comments: Congrats to everyone who was accepted, and to those who were waitlisted/denied admission, don’t worry. I used to think that there was some logic and reason to admissions, but it really does seem like a crapshoot now that I’m going through the process (there probably is some logic to it, but we’ll never know…so, basically, it’s a crapshoot, ha). We’ll all end up where’s best for us. :)
