@Astrofeline Well, now that we know your life’s story lol, (sarcasm, sarcasm!)… What major/ECs are you looking to go into at Wellsley? Basically, why Wellesley? What wellesley? Who Wellesley? Where Wellesley? How Wellesley? (Just in case you feel like rewriting the supplementary essay :p)

@jjsunsun If it were me, I would probably end up checking in the car before I left school lol.

@Astrofeline I feel youu. I feel like I’m not the best candidate either. I am like freaking out too. Hope we both get good news :)

@astrofeline Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you’re not special or that you don’t have a “wow” factor. You’re fabulous in your own little way even though you can’t see it yourself! 3.85 GPA? DUDE. THAT’S AMAZING. OH HUSH YOU. 29 ACT? So many people would figuratively murder for that score. 3 APs is better than none too! You have your own set of talents! If Wellesley doesn’t see how talented you are, then it’s their loss. Send them a box of tissues twenty years from now along with a fax of all of your recent accomplishments so they can cry over their loss. Don’t ever lose hope, okay? It’s never the end until it is the end. You are not a number. Now come here, and come join the group hug! hugs :x

@jjsunsun I’m going to be in my Calc BC class when results come out, but we don’t do anything in Calc unless it’s a test…so hopefully, I’ll be constantly refreshing my email for the news!

@jjsunsun I’ll be home by then. My bed will be perfectly comfortable for the fetal position as I check my portal

Hey everyone my name is Gina Scorpiniti! I’m from Iowa and I want to major in psych. I have a question about financial aid. Are the FAFSA and dependent verification forms due right now? They’re on my checklist on the portal, but I thought the FAFSA wasn’t due until January and there isn’t a working link to the verification form. Please help I am so nervous

@ginalee11 Hi, Gina~ Your last name is really cool and I’m interested in psychology, too, though not as a major, haha.

Anyway, as far as I’m aware, if you wanted to receive guaranteed Financial Aid information with your ED decision, then the forms were due in early November with the application itself. However, you can still apply for Financial Aid with later notification, which I assume arrives when the EA or RD applicants receive their notifications. For the later notification, the forms are due on January 1st, 2015.

Again, I’m not an official source, so I’d encourage you to finish them and send them as quickly as possible, but that is what I believe to be the case. Good luck!!

Also I am so nervous :-S I have been reading through these threads relieved to know that there are other people that are freaking out like I am. I am just expecting to get deferred at this point so I don’t get my hopes up. I just don’t think I took enough APs. I only took two my junior year and this year I’m taking 6 (but self-studying for 2) just to compensate. I hope my grades in the APs this year and last year will reassure them :-S I have strong essays and I think my interview went really well. Ugh well anyways, I want to major in psych and I am thinking of doing Chinatown Afterschool, Yanvalou, and the debate society. I like the dorms in the quad and in the tower complex. So like pretty much all of them

If anyone knows about the Dependent Verification Worksheet or the FAFSA, please reply :-S I just don’t know if anyone else did them.

@ginalee11 I filled those out kind of late… I really didn’t know if they required them since I didn’t see that on their requirements list until it said they were missing on MyWellesley. I don’t know much about them though but maybe you should contact them and ask?

Ok thanks! Yeah they weren’t on the checklist but showed up on the portal so I was confused. I’ll just have my mom try to do them or something lol

Hi @ginalee11 !! I freaked out when I saw on the portal that I am missing the FAFSA and the dependent worksheet, so I called the office. They said that we don’t need to worry about those things yet. The FAFSA won’t be up for us to submit until January and we only need to fill out the worksheet after we get our acceptance letter.
So right now, we need to get accepted first before we take any further actions lol. But be sure you submit all other forms ASAP. Hope I helped.

FAFSA doesn’t even open for the 2015-2016 year until January! So we definitely don’t need to worry about that :)

OHMYGOD THANK YOU SO MUCH you both seriously saved my life!!! I was so nervous about that. Seriously love you both.

Hi everyone! I applied to Wellesley for ED but I have a major problem with my application. I was planning on sending my October ACT scores but the thing is, my scores haven’t come out yet! Does anyone have any tips or what might happen if they don’t come out in time? I’m extremely worried :((

@annieeleee I don’t mean to worry you, but seeing as the scores were due on November 14th, that’s quite a problem! However, you took your standardized test(s) within the time frame, and the delayed scoring isn’t your fault, so I’m sure the Admissions Office will understand this. Again, I don’t want to scare you, because you’re probably already very upset and aware of the conditions, but the Admissions Office does need your test scores or some older test scores ASAP – if they don’t have any scores, they may not review your application.

Seeing as this is quite a problem, I’d recommended CALLING (or emailing, if they aren’t open due to the holiday weekend) the Admissions Office TODAY and working everything out… You could also have your high school counselor send in some verification that your story is legitimate, and that would cement your case. I think that the Admissions Office will most likely have you rush some older scores (SAT/SAT2 or ACT) in case you don’t receive the ACT results in time; if you don’t have any older scores, then all you can do is explain the situation and wait.

Don’t worry though – I’ve heard that a lot of this year’s ED applications have had score-sending issues or first quarter grade issues, so you’re not alone. The situation is out of your hands anyway, so although you have the opportunity to make the best of it and prove that you can calmly handle complications, there’s no guarantee about the where and when of your test scores. The Admissions Officers aren’t monsters, they’re humans (and very nice humans, too, I might add – they have candy and tea in the office. caramels. the good kind.) and I’m sure they’ve experienced these sorts of complications before. So just keep holding your head high and push through as best you can. Hopefully your mature handling of the situation and the other parts of your application will compensate for this complication.

@ToraTori Thank you! I actually did call the admissions office when I got the email notifying me that they needed my scores and they told me that as long as they came in by November then it’ll be fine (this was around the 13th). But I just found out that no one in Korea’s received their ACT scores yet…

@annieeleee Wow. If it’s a case that effects an entire country, not just an individual case, then I’m sure the Admissions Office will understand even more so. There’s probably other applicants from Korea who are undergoing the same problem, so I’m sure the Admissions Office is aware and making adjustments – I’m just surprised that they haven’t sent an assurance email to the affected Applicants about the score delays!

However, in the off case that the Admissions Office doesn’t know, I’d still send a follow-up email or call once more to update them on the situation once the Office opens after Thanksgiving Break; I think that it would help show your dedication and initiative. (I also believe that sending a counselor’s letter or sending older scores would help soften the blow, too).

Hello everyone!

My name is Emma, I am from New York, I have applied ED to Wellesley and I am so happy to find a group of people who are just as nervous as I am! haha

I am going to major in BioChem and minor in mathematics and I am being recruited by the swim team, but I also hope to join the shakespeare society and join some music group because I play the cello.

I am not sure I can wait until December 11th, but I don’t think any of us can! Good Luck to everyone and I hope we all get in! :)

Guysss! 11 days left (pst)!!! So nervous!!!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to throw it out there (this is going to sound weird) that if you’re a first-gen, it will really help! My therapist is friends with an admissions counselor at Penn and she said that being a first-gen will REALLY help at Wellesley. So, if you’re qualified and a first-gen, maybe you have a good shot?!

I hope this will be able to quell some anxieties any of you have about getting in (if any of you are first-gens). Personally, I think we’re all going to be fine, but I wanted to let you guys know!
