Oh duh, sorry. Misread the question somehow. I definitely think there's still reason to pursue EDII, if that's what you want. No reason not to :)

Many people use ED2 as a backup to not getting into an IVY, or even another LAC. When applying ED2 you can hear earlier, in Feb. I think though that we will apply RD to Wes. If he doesnt get into Vassar ED1. I am not sure there is an ED2 advantage for my son at Wes, but that was the ques. I was asking.

So I guess I should ask my question so it is easier to understand. My son is applying Vassar ED1. Next to Vassar, Wes is his favorite. So My question is, is he better off applying ED2 to Wes. or RD. (providing he isnt accepted into Vassar.

Do you think he has a chance at wes, and if so do you recommend ED2 vs. RD
Thanks

Mindy, your son looks like a very strong candidate for Wes. Since applying ED2 works in a student's favor for admission, he might as well apply ED2 if he's sure it's his top choice (after Vassar). If he wants to consider some other possibilities, then of course RD would be the way to go. Good luck!

Hey Mindy,

I think it depends on how much more your son likes Vassar than he does Wesleyan. If the difference is minimal, than most definitely as Wesleyan makes it clear on their website that early decision makes a big difference (28% overall acceptance rate compared to 47% for ED). If he likes Vassar much more, however, he should probably just apply RD and hold out for Vassar. That being said, he sounds like a great candidate for either school and in a few weeks, will probably receive good news.

Also, in response to your earlier question about the 40% increase in early decision applications at Wesleyan:

Last year, only 650 applications out of over 8,000 were filed early decision (only 8% of total applications), which means that your sons chances, as everyone's chances, are only slightly diminished by this increase.

Also, one more piece of info. Last year, Vassar was several weeks late in providing its Early Decisions, so don't despair if the letter is a little late. Best of luck.

Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving! 18 days left...

heyyyyyy!

i hope all the applicants in this forum get accepted and meet next fall....:(

Yea I'm starting to get pretty nervous/anxious especially since Wes called my councelor to get my first marking period grades which I thought were good, but I don't know if I can take anything from that...I'm still confident and I think all will work out for the best but I really really really really hope to see all of you there next fall...

im really nervous bc my certificate of finances (required for internationals) is not updated on
the wescheck yet
so i called wes yesterday and they were nice to me (didn't seem to be annoyed) but they really sounded busy lots of noise going on in the background.....

would they have reviewed all of our applications by now?

Probably a good portion of them, if not all...I'll bet they're going through last-minute "maybes." I mean, they have to send out the letters by the end of next week so that they arrive to most applicants by/around Dec. 15, so I assume they need to finish things up this week.

Gah, I'm so nervous. Every day feels excruciatingly long...

my wescheck still says that it has not received certificate of finances...... and does that mean i don't stand a chance....:(?
i called them yesterday and they said they've found it.......hmm

omg im usually not so picky like right now but everything's making me a million times nervous...................:(

If they say they've found it I would trust them.
