Official What Should I Phase I/II? Thread

Well, this isn't so official because I have no status in these forums, but I had a Phase I/II question and figured I may as well use the thread for something else.

When you're asking, post which class(es) you don't know what to Phase I or II and also post your Telebears appointments.

Mine:
Do you think I can phase II Econ 1 with Olney and still get an early afternoon section ... of if I can even get in? 660 seats.

Phase I: Oct 28; Phase II: Dec. 1

Thanks.

Good luck to everyone--Telebears opens tomorrow.

Is it possible for me to Phase2 chem 3a lecture? My phase 2 is Dec. 7. There are two lecture sections so I thought I can sign up for it during phase 2. However, I can only take one of the sections so would i have a chance if I signed up phase 2 and be able to get the section that I want? Thanks.

@stevenboi: No. Chem 3A - sign up in Phase 1 if you want a shot at it. I’m doing Chem 3A now and I was 50+ on the waitlist when I signed up in Phase 1. I know there is one more section this Spring, but there are also twice as many students trying to take that course, so… I wouldn’t bet on it, especially if you can only take one of the sections.

Really? Because I looked at the chem 3b lecture for this fall and there are a bunch of seats left. They also have 2 sections as well. Therefore, I would assume that there would be seats left for chem 3a lec spring since there will be 2 lectures. Do you think otherwise?

Chem 3A lecture phase II might be a bit risky even though there are 2 sections. It’s your call, but I’d go on the safe side and phase I it.

Coud I get away with doing chem 3al phase 2 then?

Or is Bio1b during phase 2 possible?

does everyone get into the CS61c section they want? Shewchuck in CS61b let us into whatever section we wanted. So I phased Adj(III) Cs61b… but should I phase II CS61c then?

And would people suggest that I take less classes to boost my GPA or take more classes to give myself more knowledge? Which one will help me get a job more?

@stevenboi: You could Phase 2 Chem 3AL. By then everything will be full. But they have this centralized waitlist thing… i.e., Monday 9-1 there are 3 sections. If you want to waitlist for that timeslot, you can only waitlist in one of the sections. Which means, if you stalk Telebears often enough, someone will drop from the non-waitlisted sections, and you can sneak yourself in.

Just don’t switch sections in Phase 1 to skip the waitlist. People do that every semester and on the first day of class they get pulled out. But adding the entire course in Phase 2 is valid.

anyone know if doing bio1b or sociology 3ac phase 2 is possible?

I think I’ll be able to switch into the College of Engineering, but I’ll need to play catchup with requirements for an MSE degree. Here’s my planned class schedule, assuming I do switch into the COE in November:

E7
EE100 (to “substitute” for E10… thought this class may be relevant towards my intended focus in MSE)
ME C85
Music 128E

I already have E7 and EE100 planned for Phase I. Should I be Phase I-ing any of my other classes instead?

^ 910eggmen: if you are not in CoE or CoC, you will be kicked out of E7 during Phase II to reserve seats, so choose another class. I know this b/c I experienced this bullcrap myself last semester.

^ UpMagic: I am currently in the CoC, so I’m not too worried about that.

Leftist: would I be able to phase 2 chem 3a lecture? And I thought FPF gets later appointments than normal student because an FPF student on my floor has a later than normal time for telebears.

@910eggman

wait so you phase 1’d e7,and got kicked out?!?! what is this nonsense?!

what should i phase I?
nst120
nst115
nstc114
ib132
stats131a

@Derek

I never got kicked out, seeing how my Phase I is next Monday. Anyway, initially, the seats in E7 are reserved for students in the College of Engineering and the College of Chemistry, because most engineering students and chemEs (in the CoC) NEED E7. Pretty much all of L&S, for example, won’t need E7, unless people want to take it for fun or if they want to transfer into the College of Engineering. Students from other colleges who try to sign up for E7 initially will probably be put in the waitlist, or something.

Anyway, as I was saying, I’m considering Phase I-ing E7 and EE100. Should ME C85 be something to worry about?

I’m not sure, but MEC85 relies heavily on MatLab. Should you be taking them together?

Would I have any chance of getting Econ 100A/B for phase 2? I have to phase I UGBA 10 and R1B, so I don’t have any room…

MCB 102?
