Official What Should I Phase I/II? Thread

Thinking about:
Chem 4B
Engineering 7
ESPM 50AC

so far. Which two out of the 3 should I phase 1?

My classes so far (sophomore):

South and Southeast Asian R5B
ESPM 50ac
PS 102/PS 138G
PS 4

I’m assuming I’ll be phase II’ing PS 4 and ESPM 50ac and hoping I’m lucky with discussion sections.

I’m almost positive ESPM50ac is NOT Phase II-able. It’s a notoriously easy AC class that everyone wants a piece of.

espm50ac is a pain in the ass

the class sucks, but the GPA boost in the end is worth it.

@eyeheartphysics: The prof told me that although there’s some catching up to do, I’ll be okay.

@Sagert: Definitely ESPM50AC Phase I. As for chem vs. E7… Well, I think it’d make sense to Phase I chem, due to the lab, and how your lab can pretty much make or break your schedule. You CAN try to Phase II chem, but only if:

a) You want an unpopular lab time
b) You want to go through the drama of waitlists for chem

Then again, I did get an epic chem lab time which I got into during the Adjustment Period during winter break. After all, people do drop out or switch.

I’m not sure about E7, especially because I don’t know the nature of the labs. I heard from people in Sengupta’s E7 class last year that labs were… optional?

This is from word of mouth, but labs were more like directed office hours. You could work in the lab with the GSI directing you, but if you wanted to work at home, you had the option.

Hey guys, I’m a floundering freshman in the Telebears process. :frowning: Your help would be very much appreciated! Phase I for me begins November 5, while Phase II is November 23rd. Which classes should I phase I and II?

Chem 1A Lecture, Chem 1A Lab

Math 1B Lecture, Math 1B Discussion

Political Science 4 (Intro to Political Theory) Lecture, Discussion

Political Science 3 (Introduction to Empirical Analysis and Quantitative Methods) – for this one I was a bit confused-- there were no lectures posted, and you could only sign up for discussions-- does that mean you can’t take the lecture then?

So if POL SCI 3 doesn’t work, I was thinking about taking POL SCI 5 (Intro to International Relations) in its place.

So I’m an MCB- Political Science major (I know, I know… but I love both of the fields equally!), and I was wondering if this is a course load that’ll get me on track with major pre reqs and stuff. Any suggestions (besides telling me to lay off double majoring) are highly, highly, appreciated! :)

Thank you!

which should I phase1 and phase2?

chem1a

engineering 177

math 128a

r5b class

@blueviolet
All lower division pol sci classes can be phase II’d :)

@razpra
I’d phase I:
r5b for sure
either E177 or M128a (I’m not familiar with these classes)

@razpra:
Definitely R5B and Chem 1A!!

Nobody wants to take Engineering 177 under Franklach anyway…

blueviolet, if you can, don’t take PS3 with anyone except Stoker. That’s what everyone, even the PS advisers (well they hint at it), says. You can’t take PS5 in the spring, but I highly recommend PS2 with Fish. PS1 is also a good course to take because the majority of Poli Sci upper divs fall into that subfield. And while all Poli Sci lower divs can be Phase II’d, you usually have to get the discussions with the poor hours.

Do you guys think Public Policy C103 with Reich will fill up by December 1st (my phase II)? It has like 660 seats, but it’s an incredibly popular class … Thanks.

lol! Frenklach’s awesome though =S. his lectures keep me awake =P. btw, is chem1a THAT popular? I mean there’s 1000 seats for that class lol, do they fill up really quickly or something?

Hey all, any suggestions on what to Phase I?

The classes:
Physics 8a
Math 53
E7 (tentative)
Econ 1 (tentative)
Mcb 100a (tentative)

I’m pretty sure I’m going to sign up for physics 8a during phase I, but not sure about the other classes… Haha. I’m as of yet undeclared, but will probably end up majoring in some MCB track and minoring in IEOR =)

Note: I’m in the college of letters and science. Would it be almost impossible for me to get into E7 if i sign up during the adjustment period?

Thanks

@razpra - The chem 1a lab sections that fit your schedule will probably fill up very quickly. I would sign up for Chem 1a and the R5B class.

I would definitely Phase 1 ESPM 50AC (for future reference). The class isn’t very interesting but like eyeheartphysics said, its worth it in the end.

anybody have any suggestions? my telebears phase 1 is currently ongoing x[

I think you need to take Physics 7A to minor in any Engineering.

nope, pre-reqs for the IEOR minor classes as well as the minor itself only needs math 53 and 54 (and the 1a/1b serious)

Anyone know if I should P1 PMB 13 or not?
