***Official Williams ED Thread!***

Reading the Dartmouth results thread makes me so nervous!

I really dislike that we have to actually wait for the mail now...

so is the stuff for sure coming in the mail? some people seem convinced that its going to be online too, but i never saw anything about that on the site.

any word yet anyone? i'm sick of waiting...

I think the decisions will be posted on the myapplication site as soon as they're out.
I hope it's soon. I don't want to go through this agonizing wait through the weekend.

amherst is sending out their letters tomorrow so williams is probably gonna do the same thing...

aaahhhhh
are you sure? has anyone called admissions to check?

oh goodness.
i will check the site again tomorrow.
AH!

I really, really hope so! I might not be able to sleep tonight.
If untrue, this weekend coming up is going to be looooooooooooooooong.

if it comes out tommorow, i am going to freak.

lol. it would be so ironic if the decision letter arrives before the postcard. I'm beginning to suspect that they didn't bother sending the postcard to international applicants. Requested for their prospectus in May -- still havn't received anything.

yeah, i don't know about that postcard thing. i'm in the states and i didn't get one either. i think they may have been talking about the "postcard" that we got via email, but who knows.

so yeah, i'm supposed to be writing a paper right now, but all of this talk of decision stuff is getting me so distracted. time management sucks... and so does waiting.

No one at all (US or not) has gotten that postcard...

I have a strong hunch nobody's going to know until Monday at the earliest.

The Williams admissions staff is probably laughing evilly while reading this thread, those sadists... jk :P

just talked to admissions:

the results will definitely not be released today but will be mailed on monday and they might be posted online on either monday or tuesday

Lucky you got someone! Western Mass. is under a huge ice storm--power lines down, phones out, etc. Just think, that could be you next year--slogging through the ice to class! ;-)

Just got a call minutes ago - I was deferred. Got the call, I assume, because I'm legacy. And they let it be known that very few deferred students are later accepted. Sounds like you need to walk on water to get in. Quite a shock & disappointment. For those of you still waiting for the news, the letters are going out Monday. I hope your luck is better than mine and yes I'll be changing my user name.

So sorry, Eph ED (soon to be named something else!!)

Williams is, indeed, a very difficult admit. Last year, my D (who did not apply ED anywhere) was waitlisted in the RD round and I thank my lucky stars that she did not eventually get in! She is so blissfully happy at another school that is lightyears different than Williams (other than academically). Williams would have been such a bad fit!

So, mourn a little bit and then pick up the pieces and start looking at your other, equally wonderful possibilities. And come April, this will be just a distant memory and you will be off to a different, yet still fabulous school!!

Gahhh! Why must Williams be the one school that waits....!

Thanks Eph ED! Best of luck to you on your RD applications!

Eph ED -

I imagine that you are right that you were contacted by telephone because you have legacy status. I admire them for making the calls, but it must be so difficult at both ends. I am glad they were honest with you -- that is the only fair thing to do.

Take the weekend off from college applications. Mourn it (and help whoever gives you legacy status to mourn it) and then move on. You will find the college that is for you and, in a year or two, you'll be deeply immersed in an exciting new life. It isn't so much about where you go to college as much as it is what you do there and what you give to it and take from it. Wonderful things lie within your reach.

I wish you all the best.
