Official Yale SCEA Countdown Thread!

Good grief, I'm already getting butterflies!

Maybe it's the 14th...

Or the 17th...

I hope it's the 14th; the anticipation would kill me!

I think it was the 14th two years ago...

I think that it could be as early as the 10th. I don't think the 14th would happen seeing as it's a sunday.

omg, they send out dancing bulldog emails?? that's awesome. haha

anyway, i will be applying SCEA! Good luck everyone!

the cynical part of me says i'll be waitlisted, then rejected...they waitlist so many people! =(

I'm checking by email because EVERYONE at my school will be finding out that week and it would be nice to have bragging rights before winter break.

People at my school applying early:

Stanford- 2
Yale- 1 (ME!!)
MIT- 3
Brown- 2
Penn- 2
Chicago- 2
Dartmouth- 1

whoops i got my dates sooo wrong. it'll probably either be the 12th :) or the 15th.

how do you know who at your school is applying early eating food? i barely know my best friend's top schools, let alone those of any of the other 700 seniors!

First off, kudos to princessbell for her awesome positive attitude and attempt to help relieve all of our stress. If I were an Adcom, I would want her in my community.

Well anyway, I'm applying for all the obvious reasons: the campus is gorgeous, the people are happy, the res colleges are cool. But also, the students seem to be my type: intellectual, but also able to carry on a conversation; passionate about something, but not one-dimensional. Essentially, they are nerds but not dorks.

And Directed Studies looks fantastic.

My school is a lot smaller than yours haha! We only have like 300 people and the top 10% are really the only ones applying to top places... so I really only know where about 30 people are applying. Since most of us are in the same classes, we have a lot of time to talk about stuff like this and people are pretty vocal about their top choices. It's healthy because all of us are really supportive of one another. Luckily we don't have like 4000 people applying to one particular place early (such as yale) like we did last year.

I was looking into this, but I'm afraid. Very afraid.

If by "fantastic" you mean "like it sucks the soul out of everyone who does it", then I absolutely agree.

i put that in my why yale essay. I'm actually really into it. but yes, I am aware its suicide =)

it actually goes along with how I'm presenting myself in my app so it works (I'm love the classics/philosophy)

I just submitted my application! AHHHHHHH!

GAH!! I'm even CLOSE to being done with my application! Two essays to go!!!

bump this thread!!!

I'm so lazy!!! I haven't written my common app essay and the Yale supplement essay.

Completely brain dead...

oh hey gossip girl

ohnotheydidnt: Yale scoffs at latest "Gossip Girl" ep

Ouch!....about the gossip girl thing.

Princess, in response to your bump, I sent in my application on Saturday and have received no confirmation from Yale.

Has anyone?

wink and Gryffon5147: Are you guys SCEA applicants?

I'm an SCEA applicant! I still have one essay left to write (the 150-word EC one for the Common App). I think all my recs and test scores are in...they're just waiting on me now!
