I was just looking at AU scholarships and noticed that Feb. 1 was the deadline to designate AU as your top choice school for National Merit. I had no idea that this was the case! I have OU designated right now (purely for scholarship reasons) but AU is one, if not the, of my tops. Is there any hope for me to fix this and still get the scholarship? Could other scholarships be worth as much?

Hey IDK I have the same problem. I think there’s a chance I’ll get one of the other scholarships, and since you’re NM you probably could too. I think that if/when I get into American I might call/email the admissions or scholarship guy and ask about it. Because I haven’t even gotten my letter saying that I’m a finalist, let alone narrowed down my top choice!

I’ve also heard of someone on the AU board who emailed AU and asked if she could get any more scholarship money, but they said they gave her the best offer. So maybe calling or emailing them later on (after acceptance) would be good.

What other NM schools are you looking at?

AU offers other scholarships beside NM. My son was only commended NM but got a good scholarship from AU. They have the Presidential and Dean’s scholarships which are independant from NM.

Thanks, katytibbs.

Karissa, I have emailed them…twice…hahaha. I applied to OU, Fordham, and University of North Texas as my NM schools.

The campus has been closed all week due to the snow storms, so don’t feel bad if your emails weren’t answered.
