I got an e-mail yesterday reminding FSU students that they will need to send a final transcript. However, it also said

"If you are receiving low grades in your senior courses, you should contact our office immediately. D's or F's in your senior courses and/or in any dual enrollment coursework may result in your admission being rescinded. As you prepare for final exams, please remember that your enrollment at Florida State University is contingent upon successful completion of your senior year!"

Now, I regrettably have not done as well in my senior year as in past years, and my grades have slipped (including some D's). I have been worried about my admission being rescinded all year. Should I call? What will the office say/do? If I don't call...what will happen?

Sorry for all the questions. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Basically, there is no escape from admissions review and FSU warns about senioritis every year. I don't see benefit from not calling, as they will get your transcript anyway, unless you believe you'll slip through somehow. If you call, you may be early enough to influence events.

Good luck!

fsunole

you may have a few options. first of all when does your final marking period end?

I would encourage you to first speak with those high school teachers that you are potentially getting a D in. The first thing you want to do is take responsibility and tell them that you know you haven't applied yourself as well as you are capable of. then explain to the teacher(s) that grades of D could result in your offer of admission being rescinded. Ask if there is any extra credit assignment or project that you could take on to help elevate your grade. also, the final test should also be an opportunity for you to pull up your grades. Most high school teachers i know want their students to achieve. when they see senioritis settle in they feel like the student is being disrespectful of the efforts that they have put forward as educators.

be sensitive to this and I think you can work on a solution with your teachers. Calling FSU is not a bad idea, but I would first see if you could make some progress with your teachers.

hope that helps and let us know what happens.

^That's a reasonable idea. :)

Fsunole, or you an instate student?

Yes sunnyflorida, I am an instate student.
And nycollegedad my last day of school is May 27th..so the period ends then.

I have pulled up my grades significantly since then...nearly all A's; I am just worried about the other term's grades. I hope I'm still a nole by June!

FSUnole, I would probably call them. It seems the letters may be going out to those students who had D's or worse on a transcript sent to FSU midway through the year, or perhaps who had D's or worse filed on FACTS.org. by their school. SInce you have pulled your grads up, with nearly all A's, you should be OK. But I find it always better to call proactively and check on things than to wait and hope that they don't find out when they already know. You could call, discuss your situation and the fact that your grades are up now. And I suspect you will have a much better piece of mind doing so.

Does the final transcript only show final course grades.. like not each 9 week grades. I'm really worried about my grade in AP Calc. I will get a C final grade no matter what but I got a D in the 3rd 9 weeks and have an F now (9 weeks just started).. I've been trying but I fail all of quizzes and tests :( Anyways, I already have my 24 hs credits because of online courses but I don't want my application to be rescind.

PS - I already sent an e-mail to FSU, but I'm still worried.

I think if your final grade is a C in AP Calc, you don't have anything to worry about.

No, I got the email too. My 1st semester grades were: AAABBAA
I never sent a midyear report either. FSU doesn't require one.

hey pistolen!

my AP jap test is just a few days away.

ugh when we do AP practice in my class i always get a 3 -_-

i freak out

Hey tomatoking!

good luck on your AP test, I'm sure you will do fine.
I noticed that FSU has a prep class for the JLPT lvl 1 exam (I was surprised).
Are you going to take any Japanese classes there?
Since I don't have any credits (and there isn't a Jap CLEP) I'm going to start with JPN1120 (if there are any seats left!) I think it's just basic kana and conversation, but I don't think they will let me skip to a more advanced class.
I want to do a study abroad sophomore year, so I'm looking at the current programs.
