Any last comments or thoughts on how I can improve my chances at Upenn.
Do more ECs? Retake the SAT for a better score? Take the ACT?

So yeah, a little more intellectual outpouring please?

Thanks :)

do wharton ED if u really want to go...i think u can make it...since u like business and stuff that would be a good idea. however yale it hitnk it mgith be a long shot

where do u live

Hey I live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Its a nice place, home to the University of North Carolina.

Yeah, I am applying early to UNC and Michigan next year and ED to Wharton.

Thanks for the help.

I'm not gonna sugarcoat this:

Bobobobob - or whatever his name is - is full of it. I think someone else mentioned passion. That's part of it. Show your passion for wanting to come to Penn. Show the admissions commitee that Penn is the only place you can see yourself attending. The key is that Penn wants people who want to come to Penn. That's it.

PS: I'll let you in on a secret, I had 5 recs. Yep, it was slightly rediculous.

Also, don't worry about how well-ranked your HS was. As long as you're in the top ten percent of yor class, it will be obvious that you excelled in your surroundings.

None of the schools you listed are safeties, so I hope that you have safeties in addition to the schools you listed. Wharton isn't necessarily realistic, but if you are adamant about it give it a try.

this is not a secret...this is usually frowned upon

"this is not a secret...this is usually frowned upon"

I wonder why I would have mentioned it then?

Maybe because I just wanted to point out that it is, indeed, possible to get in with more recs than required.

Could it be that you misread my post?

I suppose I just need to be a little more lucid when posting.

that list doesnt have many safeties

Im full of it? hes only in the top 25% of his class.

no way a normal asian kid is getting in with that class rank, coupled with a mediocre sat score and low gpa unless he has some phenominal essay that blows them away.

If it's a really competitive school, and if he can show that he's "not just another asian kid" it's very possible for him to get in. It about how much of a case you can make for wanting to come to Penn. Penn is the most forgiving Ivy when it comes to scores. As long as he's taking the most challenging courseload he can in the areas that interest him, he's fine.

Listen boboboboob... this is experience talking. I know a lot of kids who got here without anything special in the grades departement.

I agree with you that if in some form he makes himself really standout, he can get it...but I can only judge him based upon what hes given here.

anything is possible...possible doe not equal probable
