I just got raped. or hopefully just molested. by 10 sheets of paper.
=(

3A? i didn't do as well as i could have, i think i could have done a lot better if i had just twenty extra minutes. sigh..

anyways, does anyone know when we get these back? Karen said the GSIs spend all Friday grading them? does that mean they should be up on bSpace by Saturday???

i REALLY wanna know how i did on this..

3A's was today. I didn't think it was that bad. There was a lot of free radical/halogenation stuff, which I figured was going to happen, so I studied that more intensely.

i hate how frechet tests on random stuff from his Lectures, like names of scientists, etc.

makes the studying so much longer.

^
dood seriously. I could have used an extra half hour... couldn't finish. The 1,3, dichlorocyclodecane problem was a @#( spent like 20 mins. trying to draw that piece of @&$. i had like 20 erase marks..

LOL yeah, same here.

i can't believe they put that on there. it's gonna be a pain for them to grade.

Seriously.. i was like drawing octane..and all these other weird structures..at the end i was like @*#$ this draw a circle and just number it.. Lawls.

talk about 3a. It was so long and I left page 2 completely blank because I had absolutely no clue about synthetic gas other than that it was syngas. blah.
I mean, in general, it wasn't as bad as I thought it could be, but some of the minor stuff that he tested on just really bothered me. (That and I was doing the alpha calculation by hand in the very end b/c my calc died and then time was up......)

anyone know how long it takes for these Midterms to be graded? and will the grades be on bSpace?

It was okay in my opinion (3A) and I do agree that I would have done much better If I had 20-30 minutes, but other than that it wasn't was I was expecting. I kind of fell into that mind set that this midterm would be super bad, but in my opinion it was easier than both the practice and mock midterm.....how ever I was upset about the steroid question.

the steroid was just 3 hexanes together and 1 pentane wasn't it? I coulda sworn I remember seeing something like that in the book while I was flipping through it...

i ****ed up on that steroid one, i drew the 3 hexanes and 1 pentane, but i misplaced the pentane.

Damn, this brings me back two years ago when I took 3A with frechet. Second midterm certainly wasn't easier, quite a bit of retrosynthetic problems.

I agree... 2nd midterm was harder than 1st... but he gives a really nice curve in the end so don't worry too much if you scored 70/100 or so on each midterm

So im assuming he curves at the end?
what does like a 70% usually curve out to be..? a maybe b-?

I think it curved out to be an A...my ~80% avg for 2 MTs was an A+

i remember how frechet was quite upset with our class for performing so poorly in our second 3A midterm (average was 43% or something). i can still recall those words in the lecture after exam "I am verrry unhappy with you guys"

^
I'm effing scared now.

^ ah don't worry about it too much, i heard in spring '08 he made the second 3A midterm lot easier (that year's second mt average was 75% or so). also his cumulative curve after final is generous, so study hard, keep up w/ all problems, and don't get behind.
