Ohio State: match
Miami: match
Indiana: match

Michigan: reach
Middlebury: reach

If you live in Ohio, I would not really consider Indiana unless it offers something you cannot get at either OSU or Miami. Also, visit some of these schools over the summer. It is amazing what a visit will tell you. No need to do an “official” tour; you can just drive to the school and walk around. You will learn a lot.

how do osu and miami compare?

Ohio State is one of the largest three universities in the country. GIGANTIC!
Miami is actually slightly on the small side for a state university.

Ohio State’s campus is very crowded and the buildings are a mix of nice and not nice.
Miami’s campus is very spacious, and nearly all the buildings are nice. Mostly red brick.

Ohio State offers almost any course or major you can imagine.
Miami offers less variety, but still a very good selection.

Ohio State has a better engineering school than Miami.
Miami is probably better, or as good, in almost every other undergraduate program.

Miami has a reputation for being more focused on teaching than does OSU.

Ohio State students love Buckeye football
Miami students love… Buckeye football too.

How do these schools compare for business/ econ?

For undergraduate business they are both excellent. For an MBA, Ohio State is far better. This, by the way, is a consistent difference… OSU typically has better Master’s and Ph.D programs than does Miami. In fact, Miami is not special for graduate studies. However, for undergraduate Miami is outstanding.

If you major in economics at Miami, you will be in the business school. If you do so at OSU, you will be in the College of Arts and Sciences.
