Does anyone know whether Ohio State has a maker space that is available for student use with 3D printers, laser cutters etc?
If you are a maker then check out the Idea Foundry in Columbus, not far from campus http://ideafoundry.com/about where you will find a community of other makers and access to laser cutters, welding equipment, 3d printers. A lot of the labs on campus are going to require that you’ve completed higher level classes, so if you want into campus facilities you are going to have to work with a professor to get some lab time for undergraduate research. Other than the computer labs I’m not sure there is much messing around to play space on campus. If anyone has heard otherwise please correct me - I have a tinkering son (with his own 3d printer, bread boards, arduinos, raspberry pi projects, etc) who would love to find this space on campus, too.
I know of a club called The Maker Club, try googling it. My son was in it for a while, but had to drop to make room for other obligations. It really is a great club.
The Digital Union has a 3d printer with no fees, but you have to submit to a selection process https://odee.osu.edu/3d-printing Here is more about other Digital Union resources https://odee.osu.edu/digital-union/features
Thank you!
