Ohio State University - Waitlist Options?

After waiting since November for a definite answer, I logged on to my OSU account only to find that I’ve been waitlisted. It said that I’d receive further information about the waitlist option through mail. I’m curious now though. What are the options? I saw someone post that you have the option to go to the school during the summer if you’ve been waitlisted. Is that applicable to all waitlisted students, and is that still a thing? Thanks!

I also got wait listed we should find out in the mail soon. What were your stats?

I’m hoping we have the option of attending during the summer and, eventually, the fall.
My starts aren’t that great, honestly. 3.2 UW gpa, 1950 SAT superscored, 26 sat. You?

3.69 28 instate , I think unweighted like 3.5 something

hey, that’s not bad. i don’t see why osu waitlisted you.

My son got wait-listed after a long wait. He was confident that he will get in easily. But got tired of the waiting and stopped checking. I checked this morning and was surprised too. He was applying OOS, 30 ACT and 4.0 UW.

I just got wait listed with a 32 ACT, 3.9 UW GPA, 5+ leadership positions… Accepted to Michigan and UNC-CH. Waitlisted by Penn too… hard to imagine that Ohio State is at the same caliber as Penn.

Are people taking the wait list offer? I’m unsure on what to don

Get on the wait list, but move forward with another school…you will likely not be called off the waitlist anyway.

If you were waitlisted, do not fret, you’ll never make sense of admission decisions…move on to your next school.

Did anyone get a letter in mail yet from OSU who was wait listed explaining the options (Its April 4 so it must not have gone out on March 31 when we were supposed to hv decision posted?). We live in Ohio. Just curious what letter will
say?

Yeah, I was originally asking that in my question. I don’t know why everybody else posted their stats instead of actually answering this question. o.o

You all have great stats though! My friend who had a decent GPA (3.5) but subpar tests scores got accepted so I don’t know why the admissions office at OSU would deny you guys admission.

I haven’t gotten the letter yet and I’m only 2 hits from CBus so hopefully monday since no mail tomorrow

We got mail today and nothing. Lets keep each other updated! I guess another waiting game because they couldn’t spare a more detailed explanation in their online post.

Sounds like a great idea! I actually just asked them in a email whether summer quarter was still an option.

As soon as I get a response, I’ll let you guys know on here!

Has anyone who was recently wait listed from Ohio State University received a letter with their options? If so, what were the options?

@WalshStudent I recieved my wait list letter very early april and I live out of state. The letter gives you a link to a website which allows you to do one of two things:

  1. Accept their offer to have your application placed on the waitlist. From here you pretty much are just playing the waiting games again and hoping that enough spots go unfilled for you to make it.
  2. Withdraw your application. You can have your application pulled from the applicant pool. I was accepted to another university so I this is what I'll be doing.

Alternatively you can choose to do nothing. This is not listed as an option but if you take no action at all then it would be the same as option 2. The deadline to choose an option is May 1st so if you want to be placed on the wait list then time is of the essence. Here is the link to the options: admissions.osu.edu/alternate

Good luck!

@xandar Can you ONLY attend an alternative campus if you don’t get accepted off the waitlist? Is the summer quarter not an option then? I’d go during the summer, no problem, but I wouldn’t go to a branch.

@accidentalprone Unfortunately I only know what they said in the letter (which wasn’t much). It does however say that if you have any questions regarding enrollment options, you can contact admissions counselors at 614-292-3980. I would strongly recommend giving them a call as they can answer any and all questions you may have. I called them earlier in the year when something was listed incorrectly on my application and not only were they very nice and more than willing to help, they also sent me an email update when the error was corrected.
