...assuming my rec, school report are great (showing how I improve my self to overcome cultural language barrier, my dedication, my passion in photography blah blah)

only spent three yrs in Canada....

GPA is fine (rising trend)
both supplemental and main essay are superb...I wrote how my passion in photography leads me to electrical engineering....some weird hobbies like dissecting cameras...so i think essays are kinda of unique....

EC is good, mainly photograhy ..i hold professional photographer certificate...
and other various volunteer/community service work

now the real prob comes down to SAT
Jan 2005 i took the old one V:490 M:680 (math is weird)
Oct 2005 new one CR: 570 Wr: 580 M:760
retaking in Dec...but late for ED..i noe...
IIC : 780
Physics: going to take it Nov...above 700 at least expected

TOEFL: 263 6.0 on essay...
rising trend in my 3 yr english marks...
toughest currculum....lotz of APs....honors

I just submitted my ed app today..but still wanna get an insight of my chances at engineering....cornell is definitely my dream school...I just fall in love with it.

btw..additional ques....do I need to rush my Nov Physics score for ED.??

i know someone like you....are you in vancouver? this guy i know was from van., arrived late in canada, got V/M 600/800... however, he is extremely good at the math/sciences (2400 in three math/science prov. in grade 11 if you know what i mean), i don't think his curriculum was as tough as yours and maybe not his EC/essays either, but i think he's got lot's of math/science related awards. anyway, i don't know if he applied ED/RD, but he got in with package similar to a half-award.

you might wish to emphasize your provincial marks, because your SAT math and iic mark is kina medicore for engineering (sorry but 800 in iic is only 88th percentile, and many engineering applicants would have 800 in iic) while perfect score in provincial is definetly impressive.

I think you realize that the verbal and writting score is way below cornell's average, do you have an A in english? or have your councilor comment on your "amazing speed in getting aquinted with a new language"?

I'd say most likely cornell is going to defer you for ED and observe your marks this year

it is over...i sent out my last rec (of 3 rec total) today..regular mail...donno if it can arrive cornell in time......I realli want this over in Dec.....but the fact now....is that it may be a long fight, a long winter....
