i HATE people that say "i act dumb" its a poor, pathetic attempt at "look at me guys, im not too scary to hook up with".....

and i play H20polo so im not a nerd....

but i hang out on CC cuz im so excited about brown.... YAY BROWN!

i already know all the songs...

and btw i dont hate girls that act stupid that much b/c they are usually hot, but its just that a couple of my exs did that and its soooooooooo annoying...

haha, this is a funny thread. but trust me, i am in no way a nerd. i basically party every chance i get (which equals every weekend and a select few weeknights) i come on cc when i should be doing homework (i think i might have ADD or severe procrastination problems...) generally, i do my homework during school the day it is due. i guess i am naturally gifted cuz i don't really study either. but then again, my new school is not that difficult.i just moved (right before senior year) from an extremely competitive hs on newsweeks best high school list. but now, my school is like normal/average, so it's been an easy adjustment to the lower standards of excellence. but, also, my parents would murder me if i ever brought home anything lower than a "B." so that is sorta a motivation for keeping my grades up.

basically if someone didnt care about getting into college or doing well on their SATs, then they wouldnt come to this site...so everyone on this site is a nerd in teh sense that theyre smart and care about grades etc.

being a nerd isnt a bad thing...its being a dork that u have to worry about

sydney, I have to agree with you about SAT scores. I felt pretty good about them... until I found this site. Even though I have confidence in my academic record, this site can mess with you subconsciously.

Im not too nerdy/geeky but im not a dumb blonde ditz
I hang out with all of the ditzy girls in my school and well i fit in perfectly..i like to consider myself a nerd in disguize..see i dont even now how to spell that..but im gonna go to medical school..haha i will be a great doctor someday if i dont have to spell disguize..i have only 1 honors class and that is english..and i suck at math..but im kick ace in adv.bio and chem...but i love to party and hangout with friends..i think im a great mix of everything..

What exactly is a 'geek' or a 'nerd'? You see, having a life prohibits me from "keeping it real" with the current terminology that is used "on the streets". Although I believe it delightfully cute that so many people have taken the time to label others with meaninglessly vapid classifications based on perceived "social status", I also realize that this reveals a most disturbing trend.

People are getting less intelligent

Yes, this is true. If you come to a website discussing the college admisisons, process, all people are of two mentalities.

First, they are significantly interested IN the college admissions process. If this makes one a "nerd", then all members are inherently nerds.

Or, you could be like Bishop - I doubt that if you need to take the time to come onto a college website just to be sarcastic, that you could ever "get laid" or "score" or whatever other euphemism you can think up for having sex.

/does not partake in alcoholic beverages, nicotine, or illicit drugs
//maxed SAT in 9th grade
///did not prepare
////cooler than you all will ever be

getting all As and 5s on APs doesn't necessarily make a person extremely smart. it makes them extremely good at doing what they're told, when they're told

theinfocenter: yep yep. even I can do that and i'm not what you call 'supah dupah excellent'. but it's true that you're in for a waku up call when you look at the 'what are my chances' thread. man, it's intimidating...

what IS the difference between a geek, freak, dork and nerd, anyway?

geek=person who likes learning about one thing
nerd=person who likes learning about everything
dork=person who lacks social skills
Someone else said a geek is someone who likes math and science, but I don't think that's true, because it's possible to be a "history geek" or "literary geek" or whatever. It just means being obsessed with one thing, even if it does have some science/math/Star Trek type connotations.

I don't make a concerted effort to seem either smart or dumb, although I look like a blonde ditz... depending on whether you know me in school or if you saw me waitressing, you would have different opinions of me entirely. I am the epitome of the book-smart girl who literally had to be taught how to toast bread after I buttered it prior to putting it in the toaster and ended up with electrical sparks flying around. (I could've designed a better toaster that wouldn't have done that, by the way...) I only learn what interests me, and those usually aren't practical skills. So I have a 2390 on the SAT, but I generally seem dumb and I do party on the weekends simply because I can.
I too hope this isn't an accurate representation of all college applicants, or there is no such thing as an exceptional student anymore!
